And show me one case of weight being a factor in a fighter being hurt or killed in the ring.

As mentioned above, I don't remember a death occurring because of that, more deaths can happen if same day weigh ins are brought back and boxing doesn't need that.

If a guy is fighting for the 160 title as a lightheavy two days later, how is he a middleweight? simple fact is, he's not.

And yes you are forcing a fighter to put himself in Jepordy because this is his livelyhood. He's gonna do what he has to do to make money to feed his family and I'm not talking about guys like Margarito or Williams. They generate ton's of money for their promoters so you bet their ass if the rule was changed back to same day weigh in's they wouldn't be effected by it because they would just hire Nutritionists and weight trainers to monitor their diets so they could make the weight naturally.
If a fighter CHOOSES to put his health at risk, its nobody elses fault but his own. I can't even fathom how dense you must be not to understand this.

The fighters that would be effected would be the small time fighters. The guys who fight for 8,000$ not 8 million$. They would be the ones dying because they can't afford the trainers or nutritionists and would still boil down in weight to either go after bigger paydays or biggerfights. Unless you are gonna change the way Society worships money your argument is flawed.

First off, don't even try talking about boxing economics with me. I highly doubt you've ever laced the gloves up let alone know any professional fighters to be making such claims on their behalf. Second, it is society and people like you who are flawed when they let money dictate over fair play.

As usual another so called Boxing fan could give a **** about the small time fighter who fights just to eeek out a Middleclass living.
As usual another so called boxing fan who could give a **** about fair play as long as his fighter has the advantage come fight night. Fair should be fair at all levels, whether you make million or are just eeking out a "middle class living".

Yet you still can't show me one example where the so called weight advantage is a health issue and what the fighter weighs on fight night has nothing to do with the rules set forth by the unified boxing commision. those are your rules and you guessed it they don't count.

If you wanna talk economics let talk about everyday American's who go to their job's and get killed because of their employers ****ty safety standards. is it their fault they went to work to earn money for their families? 90% of boxers right now earn about as much money as your typical American and I'm a typical american when it comes to income.

Sure I never laced up a glove but I have worked everyday of my adult life so I have just as much in common with a club fighter as you do.
Just one question my friend. Whats more important? People being safe in a sport you love or people dying to make a sport you love perfect?

Fighters fought and died in that ring because they were so dehydrated that their brains pretty much turned into mush. Wouldn't you rather have someone beat Margarito with skill and not on a technacality? And doesn't that shoot down any argument that Margarito haters make with P. Williams since he is(shock) bigger than Maragarito. Seriously if you hate Margarito that much that you would implement a rule that would cause many boxers to die then you make me wanna vomit. Margarito can fight at 147 even at his size for 1 reason. Genetics! His bodies ability to stay at 147 and his chin were all things he was born with. See thats what makes a great fighter! His natural dominance over other fighter.

Please share your comments and please if you can't form a sophisticated argument against this don't post in this thread at all.
This alt is infatuated with Margarito He's tried so hard to downplay margarito and his hate is as clear as Maui beach waters! As most of you know I like engaging in boxing arguments especially with margarito haters but every time i read this guys threads or posts the only thing i can do is laugh 99% of the time and here I am with the 1% actually wasting time posting in his thread. :boobies:

Not yet. What happens when it does occur though? Do we blame the fighter who played by the rules? The fighter who was allowed to gain 20lbs? Who?

If a fighter dies from draining himself to an unsafe weight the blame lies firmly on him. Not so in this other scenerio.

Exactly... if you are 147lbs dried out like a crackhead... then maybe 154lbs is a more honest weight for you. A fighter should not look like a crackhead during any weigh-in.

A doctor should be present during the weigh-in and be able to say "Hell no, this guy is dehydrated go fight at 160lbs!"

Day before weigh ins have been happening for about 20 years and there has been no death because of a guy being too big.

Death is already a part of boxing, severe injuries are as well, we don't need more deaths and injuries occurring in the sport, which will happen if boxing reintroduces same day weigh ins, just because a guy drains himself to make weight doesn't mean he deserves to suffer permanent damage.

When it does happen? Day before weigh in's have been the norm for over 20 years and have not produced one death. 80+ years of same day weigh in's produced thousands of deaths. At the very minimum if day before weigh in's were any where near as dangerous they would have been the cause of at least a couple hundred deaths yes?
