Who's bending rules? The rule is if you weigh 147 at the weigh in you are a welterweight the end.

And for the record Tony started his career weighing 133 pounds and since 1996 when he actually grew into the ww division he's came in under the 147 limit 11 times. Doesn't exactly sound like a guy killing himself to make weight.

No because that was the status quo for 80 plus years and it killed thousands of fighters.

Im not talking Margarito or any fighter in particular, my man. What I am saying is, why the extra day? Why let fighters (not all, but many) blow up after draining themselves. Fighters are supposed to fight at a certain weight. The welterweight limit is 147. Not 147 thru 165. If this were enforced we would have a clearer picture in each division as to who the best really is. As it stands, we get guys boiling down to make a weight only to be 2 or 3 divisions higher come fight time. Its simply not fair and same day weigh ins would solve much of that.

"It" didn't kill any fighters. Guys trying to cheat the system put themselves in harms way and paid the conseqences. Like I've been saying, if you can't comfotably make weight and not put your health at risk, its time to move up a division.

Fighters fought and died in that ring because they were so dehydrated that their brains pretty much turned into mush. Wouldn't you rather have someone beat Margarito with skill and not on a technacality? And doesn't that shoot down any argument that Margarito haters make with P. Williams since he is(shock) bigger than Maragarito. Seriously if you hate Margarito that much that you would implement a rule that would cause many boxers to die then you make me wanna vomit. Margarito can fight at 147 even at his size for 1 reason. Genetics! His bodies ability to stay at 147 and his chin were all things he was born with. See thats what makes a great fighter! His natural dominance over other fighter.

Please share your comments and please if you can't form a sophisticated argument against this don't post in this thread at all.
Money Marg doesn't dominate other fighters w/ his boxing ability, he dominates them because he is naturally bigger and has a skull thicker than concrete.

Because again it caused fighters to boil themselves down to the point of dehydration and they would die in the ring. This happened for 80 plus years and cost countless fighters their lives.

Face it this is the lesser of two evil's and again name some fighters that have to boil themselves down nowadays so they can fight the smaller fighters.

Ricky Hatton is the highest profile fighter with weight problems and hes considered a small 140 pounder.

It didn't happen then so it sure as **** won't happen now especially since more money is envolved. Seriously you contradict youself when you act concerned about a smallerfighter having to fight a bigger fighter with a weight advantage but oh it's the fighters fault that they go in dehydrated and they can die for all you care.

You sir have no soul if you put rules in a sport before humanlife.

Pistol, fighters don't HAVE to boil themselves down and put themselves in harms way, they CHOOSE to. By giving them that extra day they are getting an unfair advantage over a fighter who naturally makes the weight and is ready to go without having to replenish his system.

But nobody is dying because of it and like I said which fighter is actually boiling himself down right now to take advantage of his size advantage??????

Again are you really ok with fighters dying all so a handful of posters on a message board can sleep better at night?

Look, rules and weight divisions are there for a reason. Right now the system is flawed BECAUSE of the money involved.

And please, stop with the "for all you care" BS. Like I said, nobody is putting a gun to these guys heads and saying "do it, or else!". Maybe you should look at the fighters who would dehydrate and put themselves in danger to make more money before you go casting stones about having no soul.
