If floyd fought margarita he would have options. He could do what threadstarter said, or knock his ass out. For the sake of his hands, he would box his way to an easy win.

Of course he would deserve respect, the only people who would not respect him are idiotic Margarito fanboys.
And there are alot of them.

If Floyd either took the fight and won or took the fight and got knocked cold, I would respect FLoyd for taking the fight.

Margarito needs to decisively beat Paul Williams at which point he can start ****ing the drum to get a fight with Mayweather.

I agree. Taking the fight alone would earn him tons of respect.

At this stage I don't think Floyd would beat Margarito. Too much Pressure,Size,Chin,Stamina for the lil guy.

Wha? That's like saying a year ago that Cotto had to beat Margarito, Williams and whoever before he got a shot at Mayweather...

Both Williams and Margarito deserve a shot at Mayweather right now.

Mayweather could pick any number of opponents of which I would not be disappointed.

Mayweather isn't coming out of retirement for anything that isn't going to be the biggest fight of the year. He's also not going to take it if he thinks there is a decent chance he will lose. A fight with pacquiao is a risk/reward dream for Mayweather.

First, chances are ANY fight Mayweather takes is going to be the biggest fight of the year. Second, I don't think anyone is saying Pac/Mayweather isn't a great fight and the best choice for Mayweather. Third, this thread is about whether you'd respect Mayweather for beating/fighting Marg. Fourth, Awesome knick game on right now.

Nate Robinson looks to be the stat leader right now. Obviously Mayweather would get respect but I think we are more likely to see Pacquiao fight Margarito than mayweather. D'antoni needs to start Nate from here on out. Q Richardson starting is a travesty.
