Floyd Mayweather Jr hand-picked his opponents like no other. Bernard Hopkin is an ATG, not floyd. Bernard had the balls to get in the ring with someone like Joe Calzaghe who throws over 1,000 punches per fight. Bernard Hopkins had the balls to get in the ring against young lions like tarver, and kelly pavlik. Bernard Hopkins stopped Oscar de la hoya in his prime.

You guys narrow down the ATG rating too much. Guys like Joe Cal and Floyd are among the greatest fighters in their era, hence earning them all-time great status.

By the way, personally I'd rank Floyd higher than Joe Cal, Floyd has beaten more top tier fighters in his career than Calzaghe IMO.

I dont narrow it down at all what makes them the best? To be the best you have to prove yourself against the best Mayweather hasnt fought the best in a division since Castillo 6yrs ago. If he had beaten all the top guys from 140-147 I give him ATG staus in a second. Joe C has only beaten 3 good fighters and 2 decent ones his whole career just not an ATG resume.

Apparentlywe have a different view of ATGs Im talk about the best ever if we go on not quite as good as a lot but better than a lot then Arturo Gatti is an ATG theres only been a couple thousand guys who could have beaten him, and I dont like it or dislike it I just wish fighters had to prove they were great nowadays without everyone saying a skilled fighter who didnt take enough risks is an ATG. Well no way would I rank him as high as the Leonard's of boxing history, but the guy is a mulit-divisional champion who's beaten the likes of Judah, De La Hoya, Castillo, and Corrales. all guys who were at the elite level when mayweather spanked them. All that is more than enough for me to rank him among the best.

I'd rank him in that mid level of the best, no way he's as great as he thinks he is, but the man has a legit claim as boxing royalty and he doesn't necessarily have to clean 147 out to achieve that status because he's already at that ATG level.

I dont hate the guy I agree with most of what you have to say we just have a different opinion on what ATG really means. There will always be legitimate questions about whether he could have beaten the other TOP guys of his era. He has a lot of good wins but nothing that spectacular. I would have rather him ruler 130 than jump to 147 just for a belt that kind of stuff hurts a fighters legacy in my mind.

The F.uck are you sayin. Mayweather started at 130 and you want him to beat B-Hop. Yes JLC was the best at 135 but did you forget Chico was the best at 130. Did you forget he beat Jesus Chavez, Hernandez and Gerena?? Have you seen most of Floyd's fight?? Or are you mad because you couldn't beat Floyd in a street fight?
