I personally think Floyd is in the top 5 of all time. I'ma get shot for this I know.
Is Floyd Mayweather jr an ATG?

He really is. Specially if you look at skills alone. Of course allot of fighters accomplished more in the past like Ali and Robbinson, those will remain unmatched for a long long time but if you look at skill alone i must say and being very honest floyd mayweather jr. comes second to none in that department. he's roy jones with the fundamentals jones lacks. he is a bad character and no i don't like him as a person, but as i fighter i'm a fan since i first saw him fight.Yeah, I'll counter attack "is marquez an atg" topic back.
Floyd Mayweather Jr hand-picked his opponents like no other. Bernard Hopkin is an ATG, not floyd. Bernard had the balls to get in the ring with someone like Joe Calzaghe who throws over 1,000 punches per fight. Bernard Hopkins had the balls to get in the ring against young lions like tarver, and kelly pavlik. Bernard Hopkins stopped Oscar de la hoya in his prime.
Can't really compare Bernard, full grown LHW vs Oscar or Oscar as a full grown middleweight vs 148 pounds Floyd. Oscar weighed in at least 160 lbs in the fight with floyd vs the 147 he weighed in vs pacman, taking nothing away from pacman, i'm also a big fan of pacs and hope he does one better than floyd as with all new fighters i like. bernard was at least as big as Oscar in their fight if not bigger. He looked clearly bigger and stronger.Comment

No... Just no...
For arguments sake, let's say their records are equivalent, do you not take SKILLS into account too? Do skills count for nothing now? Only when it suits people's agendas it seems.
Combine achievements with talent to measure greatness. Some might (wrongly, imo) argue Floyd's lacking in the achievements department, but his all time great skill is undeniable and makes up for whatever he might be lacking in terms of record. Same as Roy Jones Jr. who is actually a far more legitimate example of this.Comment

To be honest it's not easy to find out info on the guys he was fighting, I had the same problem with Locche and Moore.
I managed to get a book on Moore and it was pretty good reading, I got it from the Library so i don't even know what it was called unfortunately.
But I don't think many would object to a 1-9 which includes in no particular order (mainly because it changes depending on what i've just read or watched)
Ali, Joe Lewis, Archie Moore, SRR, Hagler, Duran, Leonard, Holyfield and Spinks.Comment

i don't have spinks nor holyfield in my atg list. the 175 and 190 divisions i don't rate too highly in the 80's. just my opinion though. To be honest it's not easy to find out info on the guys he was fighting, I had the same problem with Locche and Moore.

I'm undecided. He left a a few important questions unanswered, and that makes me question his greatness, so I won't vote on the poll.
