De la Hoya never had a good right hand and what is the best weapon against southpaws? Right hands.
De la Hoya got a very good left hand, but Manny was too fast and moved away, its also not that effective against leftys, especially the hook.
Oscar also had no legs, which does happen to many fighters over 35.
He also hasn't faced a southpaw since ages

its more like Oscar overdieted to get to a stable 147 than overtrained. I bet Pacman overtrained more than him...if you get me.

And here comes the parade of excuses. Oscar has been fighting for most of his life, and should know by now whether he's being overtrained or not losing weight properly. And I wonder if his nutritionist for this fight had much experience with high performance athletes. The reason I say this, is that part of this whole weight issue reminds me a little of what happened to Chris Byrd who lost a ton of weight with extra running and dieting (in a way which is probably ok for a normal person) but as a boxer left him also unable to pull the trigger against Shaun George. Granted Byrd didn't have a nutritionist, but the end result about not feeling right in the ring was the same. BHop on the other hand used a nutritionist which for all those years helped him maintain his weight properly and never comes into a fight weight drained. Those two are business partners, so you'd think BHop would have offered some advice on the matter.

Plus in all the press clippings leading up to the fight, Oscar kept bragging about how great his camp was and how he was in the best shape of his life. To now have people come out here and slam his handpicked trainer is pretty low.

I think people are seriously underestimating the huge improvements in this part of Mannys game. I was incredibly impressed with that aspect. His in and out darting was spectacular to watch.

Either way, Pac forced him into submission - that doesnt change.
Oscar Delahoya had problems making weight for Felix Trinidad. What was that - nine years ago? Remember how he had to strip to the skin to make 147?

The fact that he weighed 165 for Mayweather and 148 for Pacquiao tells you alot. A 35 year old man who is already lean should not be losing 10% of his bodyweight.

Hahaha i knew they would come up with a good excuse. I would love to hear what nacho has to say about this. If anything he probably under-trained, but its not so much what dlh didnt do, its what pacman did do.

Just look at the way his legs moved, they were slow and looked weak.

If he overtrained he should have known...how long has Oscar been at this game? shouldn't you know your body by now? And also...why was Dundee brought in? and why didn't he say to Oscar to change what he was doing? I can see him being over trained but he also spent a lot of energy trying to catch Manny.

Before you all jump down his trainers throat, you might want to check with Oscar, his Nutritionist and those darn Kangaroo's also.

His entire dream team was a mess. This is what happens when you surround yourself with people who just don't know **** about the mechanics of the person they are dealing with.

These hired gun trainers/teams might work for some, but for the most part, they can introduce problems.

Oscar should also know his own limits. He deserves the blame for letting it all happen.
