I don't see why some of you idiots feel like you have to choose a side.

You're not more a part of either sport by attempting to discredit the other.

And if any of you have ever been to an event of either sport, you would see that the demographics for each sport respectively are almost completely different.

Those demographics don't apply to me though. I'm a 22 year old young man and by those standards I should be a diehard MMA fan.. and yet the sport (if you can even call it that) doesn't appeal to me whatsoever. It just seem so unecessarily violent without any real skill and science to it that I can see. I mean if you're going to let two guys go at it like that mind as well let them fight out on the street over a six pack of beer.

Of course it looks like that when you have no idea what you're watching. Many MMA fans think that boxing is just 2 guys punching each other, when in reality you and I know there's so much going on that it's hard to pick it all up, and not in a bad way. MMA is the same way, but it takes a trained eye just like boxing does.

I'd really like to questin so-called learned MMA fans about the trades of the sport. I bet there are few and far in between that could rationally break down a fight and tell me about the tactics, skills, and submission maneuvers required for one man to beat another. MMA grappling fighting just isn't enough of an established sport for any average fan to be able to educate themselves on and be able to break it down like that.

One thing I think the UFC could do to increase their PPV buyrate would be to quit putting on so many goddamn PPV cards. Their are literally 12-14 every year. MMA is good entertainment but $600 a year to keep up is getting ridiculous. They could reduce it to 6 PPV's per year and up the high caliber matchups and title fights on each one, then perhaps save the less popular fighters for Sp*keTV to help build their popularity.

Well I consider myself fairly educated so I probably wouldn't fall into the category of fan you'd prefer to question. But if you want to then feel free to ask me whatever you had in mind.

It takes a bit of research and patience to get an eye for the game, much like boxing does. If all you want to see are quick KO's then neither sport would be right for you (and I'm not saying YOU, just a fan in general). Those are the people that MMA can do without, yet they're the only ones who seem to get mentioned on this forum.
