And define ATG, whoever made the thread. Come on, don't be shy.

Hall of Famer? No doubt about it…to quote one poster ‘his impact alone justifies it’…but ATG? There’s too many big fight losses in his prime for this fight fan to tag him ATG

He has to be faster than Pacquiao. He can't ever be wrong and he has to be a bigger draw than MMA.

I didn't have the intention of having to setup a poll with a set definition so it's up to you how you define ATG.

If there are no guidelines the poll becomes purposeless. What if someone's idea of an ATG is Prince Naseem Hamed?

Even if he really should've gotten that win, don't make him great. He has alot of holes in his resume. He didn't fight Kostya (in his prime), he didn't fight Margarito, Cotto, list can go on and on. All his done the last 6 years is fight hand picked opposition which made him the most money, win or lose. **** his ***** ass. I'm glad he gets no respect from Mexican fighters or the Mexican community. He ****ted on boxing

                You're sadly mistaken.

Well that's their opinion. Not mine.

And if you must, here are some examples of active fighters who are ATG IMO.

                  Evander Holyfield
                  RJJ
                  B-Hop

Now do you think Oscar fits in that category or not?

What are you talking about? If you live in Los Angeles then you should know he gets tons of respect from the Mexican community.

Oscar hasn't had a meaningful win since 2002, when he beat a version of Vargas that was fading even then. His resume from junior lightweight up is impressive but lacking. He never fought the best at 130. Never fought the best at 135. Never fought the best at 140. After a controversial victory over perhaps the weakest champ in the division (a faded Whitaker who looked very rocky in previous fights), he seemed intent on doing the same at 147. But he DID step up to the plate there, only to meet mixed results. A controversial win over Ike, a controversial loss to Tito and an upset defeat at the hands of Shane Mosley. He avoided rematches with every last one of them (except Shane - after Shane lost twice) and only moved up to 154 when Tito cleared it out.

Oscar De La Hoya being called an ATG is a recent phenomenom from fans who joined the sport only a few years ago. He certainly wasn't considered one before. But the way he's accomplished this is by continuing to fight NAMES. It helps, win or lose.

For you guys who just started watching this century, imagine trying to explain that Oscar's victory over Pacquiao isn't all that to some guy who just began following. Just another name - but us who are following now know that it's all about money and Oscar is making this little guy move WAY up to make it happen. Don't be surprised, it's what he's done throughout his career. HOF? Yes. ATG? No.
