I'm not sure if Adamek hurt Dawson that badly either. It was more of a flash knock down. I thought Dawson kept his legs throughout the entire of the round and then came back to land the cleaner shots in the 12th.

You have to admit, that was a very impressive performance from Dawson against a very tough, undefeated guy.
Yes, it was an impressive performance...but you have to remember that Adamek was weight drained for that fight, he was killing himself to make 175 and he was unhealthy. Adamek is fighting at cruiserweight now, he is way more comfortable at that weight.

      Dawson never knocked down Adamek

Adamek knocked down Dawson and hurt him bad in the 10th round...Adamek came on strong at the end of that fight and exposed Dawson's suspect chin and stamina.
I suggest you watch the WHOLE fight. Dawson dropped Adamek mid rounds with a body punch, and staggered him in the 11th with a counter right hook. He was the most hurt throughout the fight. Even after he dropped Dawson, Dawson came back at the end of that last round and won the 11th.

It's not about power, it's about workrate.

Hopkins and RJJ don't have the legs and energy levels to keep up with a Calzaghe. And while Dawson does take the odd round off here and there, he would have a much better chance than two men with a combined age of 82.

Dawson has the youth, legs and movement to keep up with Calzaghe.

Dawson's chin is suspect but Calzaghe doesn't have the power to trouble it.

If you ask me, this is a bad stylistic match up for Calzaghe more than Dawson.

It's a moot point anyway, the fight ain't gonna happen.

Not at all true. He said before the fight that he felt great and that his size would be a factor. How did he have the energy to come on the last few rounds if he was weight drained? A fighter that killed himself to make weight wouldn't have done that. He admitted after the fight that Dawson was just too fast.

He was also looking to get the bigger names at light heavy. Funny how when Dawson beats him hes weight drained. He fought to a war with Paul Briggs only a few months earlier.

The Adamek knock down should definately not have been called a knock down. You can clearly see on the replay that Dawson'd foot gets hooked behind Adamek's lead foot and then as Adamek goes to lean back to evade the punch he trips over a falls backwards. The body punch barely connected. It was very difficult to pick all that up in real time though.

Dawson definately did hurt Adamek in that fight though, it was Chad's best performance to date IMO.

I agree. The "Adamek was weight drained" argument is very weak.

I think Tarver was his best performance. Tarver was his best opponent to date, he was not knocked down or hurt and he remained consistent throughout, and that's something that he and Eddie Muhammed is working on. They noticed that Dawson tends to fall asleep when hes ahead, and this time he remained focus. It was also the first fight where Tarver admitted that he lost with no excuses. When he fought Hopkins, he said that he was poisoned. When he fought Jones and Johnson( in the first fights) he said that he felt he was robbed.

Adamek's camp admitted that he was weight drained and was killing himself to make 175....that's why he moved up to cruiserweight

Adamek came on strong at the end of the fight because he has a huge heart and he didn't want to lose his title.

Agree to disagree Slick. I thought Tarver was a good performance but I never gave Antonio a chance of beating Chad so I was less impressed. I think Dawson showed incredible skills against Adamek which is why it is my favourite.
