dana we dont care. enjoy your sport where the most ****phobic guy taps out 1st. I am actually perfectly fine with boxing not being one of the more popular sports, or else we would just be like everyone else. Boxing is my #1 fav and will always be. Boxing will never lose its true fans and will always be around.
Boxing has a history, Boxing has been here for hundred years and its a tradition that every race, culture and people in this world knows...so NO way boxing die.
Am pretty sure White is just trying to get more fans unto his glorified fighting.
dieing? naw, not even close. if anything, the mma is on the decline as of late. boxing is like some of the football teams in it's rebuilding years. alot of the older guys are starting to retire and the up and comers are a lil slow. the mma has a following, but nowhere near as boxing. just look at the ppv buys, it'll tell it all.
Like I said, UFC, not MMA, but UFC NEEDS Boxing. Boxing is the main tool in marketing the UFC so if Boxing TRULY were to die, the UFC would have to utilize news marketing and branding strategies. Dana knows better and he knows Boxing will never be replaced because of its rich history in American and world culture.
There will never be movies related to UFC or MMA like Raging Bull, Cinderella Man, Million Dollar Baby. And the ones that come CLOSEST to that are what, The Karate Kid, Bloodsport, Never Back Down, THREE NINJAS?! There wont be documentaries about UFC fighters like there have been on Ali or Marciano or Louis about the impact they've had on society and history.
Think about analogies. Anytime you watch coach or athlete from another profession, boxing related analogies are constantly used, "gotta keep rolling with the punches", "going down swinging", "fighting till the final bell rings", "threw our best punch". Boxing is EMBEDDED in every day culture.
Dana knows this. Like I said, dude is just doing what he can to market his product and he does a good job.
UFC had a few mainstream fighter names for a while, Ortiz, Liddel, etc. But they are all going away, TUF will bring in new fighters, but since they all have the same personalities (talk in monotone voices, act like a bunch of apes when put in large groups together) they will hardly be stars.
To be fair, the reason there are hardly any undefeated MMA fighters is because of fighting an opponent with a style they don't know how to deal with.
Dana white was a BOXERCISE instructor. He is a ***** with no boxing experience. UFC is for trash and by trash. Carry on.
Dana like to put down boxing anytime he's given that forum. He's trying to sell his sport like a salesmen. Boxing in the US may not be what it once was and Im fine with that, but around the world it's still thriving.
Hopefully the guys over at "Affliction" will put Dana out of business one of these days, so we won't have to listen to him spout his bull**** about boxing any longer.
I've got nothing against MMA, it's just not my type of combat sport. I think the mixture of styles leads to less entertaining fights because the fighters have to train 4 or 5 different styles, without ever learning to master even 1 of them.
Anybody who disrespects the time honored sacrifice and amazing moments boxing has given us all over the last 100 years is a moron, straight up.
MMA is a fad. It will die out. Just like toughman came along and was huge then died out. I'm not saying MMA will dissappear completely but it will be less popular in a few years guaranteed. Boxing is not dying, its been around for a long time and is not going anywhere. MMA is more for teens, when I was that age it was WCW wrestling that everybody watched.
