I mean come on ; are you serious?

A prime Roy would have ****d a prime Joe.

Imagine how much speed, power, skill Jones had in his prime - a shot Jones knocked down a still live fighter in Joe imagine in his prime. Jones would have been on the other side of the ring already when Joe could have came in, ****t last night Jones kept comming at Joe regardless of being hit still. No way Joe beats Jones, too much speed and skill. At the time where Jones was around 168, he fought better competiton then at the time Joe was fighting fighters who were basically bums. If a shot Roy with a cut for the first time in his career stood 12 rounds and didnt go down once againest Joe of today ; that says alot.

Its funny if you think about it; had this fight happened 10 years ago we'd be talking about how Jones embarrased people and saying "remember that fight where Jones was so fast for that british guy who all he can do was run at Jones slapping him, Jones was soo skilled
Illusions can be very real. I agree. But, Tarver blew up the illusion that was Roy Jones, Jr. with one shot. It's a reminder that Roy always had a brittle chin to protect. He did it with finesse and great speed, I'll admit. However, Joe Calzaghe is and always was durable, elusive, and relentless. There's no question in my mind that prime on prime would have established Calzaghe as an ATG many years ago. Somebody in boxing evidently agreed because we never got to see either Hopkins or Jones against a prime Joe Calzaghe. Just my opinion. The only evidence I have to support it is... LAST NIGHT.

Plus Roy's mentality changed after the Tarver KO. I think he felt like he had nothing to prove. He wanted to prove to the people he could comeback, but I don't believe he had that fire in him anymore. The old Roy would never saying "if I lose." Losing was not an option...

        • I said it earlier today and ill say it again. A prime roy jones could dance around calzaghe with his hands down and **** him in the ass without gettin touched.

yep jones ducked him to move up to heavyweight. yeah this makes a whole lot of sense. so johnson and tarver are better prime for prime than jones? camacho is better than sugar ray leonard prime for prime. holmes is better than ali prime for prime. your logic is so ridiculously ****** and only a true nuthugger can think like that.

yea its like they are pretending they never happened and jones hadn't been shot for 5 years. johnson and tarver were far more impressive against jones and they didnt touch the canvas. embarrassing. if glen johnson was british he would be the greatest of all time.

pre Calzaghe v Jones i would of dismissed that as an excuse but i honestly think Jones confidence levels are why he might have not regrouped well after the 2nd Tarver fight

yeah his desire did not look like that of a man who believed this was such an important victory for him to earn

                  • Idiot! trinidad was a welterweight. If beating Jones at this point makes Calzaghe great, then Tarver and Johnson must be ATG's!!! They are obviously legends too based on such logic, as they actually knocked him out a few years ago when he was also shot. In fact Trevor Burbick is also a legend for beating Ali when he had Parkisnons. Hurray!

remember the old Roy? he said 5 months later i needs my crown, first round 1 punch and he sat down.(referring to Montell Griffin KO 1) when you ****ed with roy, roy did not take ****. He'd comeback hard. To quote a former friend I know who was a boxing fan..."Roy Jones was serious."
