Calzaghe is an arrogant *******. I dislike him as soon as he opens his mouth. But what he did in the ring was OK. Showboating is a risk and if you take it you earn the right to enjoy it.
Exactly, I'm not a particular fan of Calzaghe's but we don't hear any criticism of some of the stuff some other fighters have done in the past. Hulk smart.

That's really lame, he stood off, held hands low, wound his hands, show boated to a lot of guys. Some whom had a good chance of winning some not.

So what now a boxer has to sit on their stool, judge at that moment how good they and their opponent is doing, to determine if they have a bit of fun with their performance, and entertain?

And how comes Hopkins is aloud to do it too? Not saying it was as bad but come on, no complaints at all versus this, seems a double standard. It was Joe's last fight and he was bound to showboat and go out with a **** like that.
Again, exactly. Some people are allowed to do it without a word of criticism while others get criticism for it.

        That ain't respect IMO!
Again, it's not that I liked what he did but I can understand why he did it, he's been in this sport for over 20 years and in quite possibly his last fight, I think he can have some fun, and I can't state this enough, it doesn't mean I like it.

But did you hear any criticism about it? No. Pavlik was getting beat up in that fight and Hopkins showboated, no criticism. What's to say Calzaghe doesn't have a chip on his shoulder? And are you saying an underdog can showboat but a favorite can't?

Maybe, but I don't think he deserves the criticism.

Nah I'd never make a general statment like "showboating is wrong" (for favorites underdogs or anyone else" I judge each situation individually based on it's different aspects.

I'm saying Joe's showboating last night against an exhausted, bloodied and already beaten Roy Jones Jr was a bit vulgar and that's my opinion.

I've rewatched the fight today and maybe my choice of words were a bit strong i.e. fool, but I still think it was over the top and unessecary.

everybody keeps saying this, but they are missing the point...

Roy Jones Jr.'s career was buried last night. When you bury a former great, you should do it with respect. You don't take a leak of the casket. Its the right thing to do, thats why Lampley was getting tired of joe's antics.

Even as he was dominatin the rds I never once though Joe was gonna get a KO. It just ain't his thing to go all out and force a stoppage.

I think Jones quite enjoyed all the showmanship, they seemed to be mutually appriciative at the end of Rnd 2 when they where both doing it.

Hopkins did it as the underdog against a prime P4P fighter to prove a point. Calzaghe did it as the favorite against a legend who was clearly shot, badly bleeding, and out of the fight. A little different.

Fighters as good as Joe should be gracious in their victories.
Joe had to do something for the fans while carrying Jones.
