Roy Jones is probably my favorite modern fighter, ever. And not once did I ever feel like he had a chance in this. Did I root for him? Sure. But for Joe Calzaghe to win a fight in which he was the 5 to 2 betting favorite is by no means a screaming endorsement of his status (whatever that may be).

Sorry, but people are gonna have to try harder if they want to put Joe on that pedestal. Stop grasping at straws and pick something legitimate to reward him with.
OK. Calzaghe dominated Bernard Hopkins who just dominated Kelly Pavlic. That'll work for now....oh I forgot....Calzaghe is also 46-0 world champion. Yep. That should do it. He's now on the pedestal.

He clearly beat Hopkins. But that's not the same as domination.

First off like to give both fighters credit, Thought Roy really showed heart and but on a very solid performance considiring how much he's past his prime, cound't belive it when Roy dropped him and thought i was going to see Jones take Calzaghe back to school but Calzaghe stayed calm and showed heart getting up and dominating the later part of the fight, really thought Roy should of capatalized on his knock down but he never, guess thats his age showing. for the first 4-5 rounds i had the fight pretty much even but to be onest really thought the cut put Roy off his game but hey can't take nothing away from Joe who really put a beaten on Jones after 6 rounds. In my mind do and i have always said a prime Roy Jones at 168 or 175 would of beat Joe Calzaghe anyday of the week, i thought Roy caused Calzaghe enough prombles when he was a finished fighter , and even do i think Joe is really startin to come to the end Jones was a lot more past his prime. But overall very entertaining and exciting fight, and wonder if both fighters will retire now?

Calzghe is only considered great in the UK and by calzaghe fans. everwhere else he's just good. Good fighters get rememberd, great fightrers are never forgotten. when calzaghe retires he will be forgotten.
