He looked old and even the commentators who are American by the way stated repeatedly that this was not the old ROY. The roy who was dominating with phenomenal speed and power. The Roy I saw today was A SHADOW OF WHAT HE ONCE WAS. Not even close. Pavlik on the other hand is at his prime and Joe has avoided him for a while. Hopkins took care of him and I hope Joe has the balls to face Hopkins again. I think he will be forced too. I can see that Hopkins still bugs Joe. Joe went out of his way to demean Hopkins by calling roy a bigger Legend. That is a ***** move. I smell rotten apples from joe. To hold another fighter nuts to just trash another one is what I call A ***** MOVE. Beyond that I thought Joe fought a great fight and showed a lot of heart to get up after being dropped and just dominate Roy. I actually thought Roy would make it more interesting but that just shows how far gone he is. At the end of the day Joe waited too long to face legitimate competition to be considered an all time great. That question will always be there. Hopkins vs Joe II I would love to see that fight. Now BERNARD HOPKINS is truly one of the all time greats. That's undisputed.
Why are you shouting in bold?

Roy Jones is probably my favorite modern fighter, ever. And not once did I ever feel like he had a chance in this. Did I root for him? Sure. But for Joe Calzaghe to win a fight in which he was the 5 to 2 betting favorite is by no means a screaming endorsement of his status (whatever that may be).

Sorry, but people are gonna have to try harder if they want to put Joe on that pedestal. Stop grasping at straws and pick something legitimate to reward him with.
Well said. His two best victories were a split decison win (in which he tasted the canvas and some had him losing) against an over the hill 43 yr old hopkins and a victory over a completely shot 40 yr old jones who was knocked the **** out by glen johnson years before. Not impressive at all.

First off fool you best calm down and take it easy with the namecalling. Your real brave talking **** in front of your computer. I bet if we were face to face you would be a bit more shy. I'm from the streets man so chill and let's stick to boxing. Show some respect. I'm down for heated debates about boxing but you are going too far. So relax *****. Reasonable fighters you say? Those reasonable fighters are legends compared with the bums Joe has faced most of his career. The whole format of your question alone is ******. So what is your definition of a legend? Do tell. Let me flip your own bull**** on you. How many legends has Joe fought. Now let me hit you with an intelligent question. How many hall of famers has Joe fought? This is the last time I respond to your ignorant ass. Learn a lesson kid and start by removing your head out of your ass. I know it's deep in there, and you problaby like that but kid that's not good for you. This is the last post directed to you so enjoy it *******. You aren't even on my level kid, waste of time. FOOL

who are you calling a kid? and what is your level? more to the point what the **** is this hall of fame **** all about? Marvin Camel is in the hall of fame,it means **** all! this is boxing son,a mans sport little boy,so **** you and **** canastota.you know nothing about me ,certainly not enough to say i wouldnt be so brave.your gay ,racist and holier than thou opinion serves only to give us all a laugh.your lame efforts would have more kudos if they had some basis in truth.i dont doubt that you are from the streets, but as demonstrated by hopkins in round 11 of the calzaghe fight that doesnt stop you from acting like a ******.and the lack of grace and manners underscores the point properly.your ridiculous arguments about the quality of joe and b-hops are laughable, but i dont want to get into that debate anymore with you because i am not willing to waste my time trying to get through to a ****ing mong who is desperate for a bit of bum-hop ****.YOU WILL NEVER BE ON MY LEVEL,either of boxing knowledge or ability..that said,if you do grow a pair of bollocks and come to England ,then i would gladly meet you in any available gym in london, and see if you would be even able to get halfway through 3/2 s.okay ****** boy? is that clear enough??...just make sure you wipe the jizz off your chin first!

Actually, quite truthfully, Calzaghe's record and fights and the people he beat will get better known over time and also the way he beat them. He is one of the few fighters of recent years that will be remembered as nothing, at least by the American public, but will get more and more admiration as time goes past for what he achieved and how he achieved it.

If you look at what he did with an eye for time, it really is quite spectacular. He will be remembered as a truly great fighter in many years time, despite what many think here. You wait and get back to me in fifty years time eh?

If you knew how to write you would not need to do so in bold, because your words would speak everything for you.

Why not just bold a few parts that you feel need specific attention? That way those parts get more concentrated reading instead of the whole thing looking like an infantile derelict wrote it. Grammar also helps someone understand what you write. You know? Sentences, paragraphs, comma's etc.

Well, you could also put it like this: That same Glen Johnson is now 40 years old (a hell of a lot older than when he beat up Jones) and many had him beating the current LHW champ Dawson, who, for whatever baffling reason, many think Calzaghe is ducking. He hurt Dawson many times throughout the fight and nearly had him out at a couple of points.

That same 43 year old B-Hop, who by your account is supposedly over the hill, just beat the young current middleweight champ Pavlik by an absolute, complete and brutal whipping. The same champ Pavlik who the majority of this board, and most others, said would secure Calzaghe's legacy if he went and beat him. He did better did he not? He beat Hopkins.

Tell us all genius, who should he have fought recently to secure anything? He beat the reigning LHW champ. Why fight Dawson? He beat the recognised, reigning, LHW Ring champ who just went and beat the ultra hyped and undefeated MW champ Pavlik, who many had said Calzaghe needed to fight to secure any kind of legacy at all! Dawson is young and green. Calzaghe fought a number of them already who many predicted this exact same thing! "Oh, he needs to fight Kessler. He is the unified SMW champ who is undefeated and Calzaghe has never fought anyone that is undefeated and in his prime like him. He will get owned. He needs to do it to secure his true legacy!" That was also said about Lacy before him. Though of course everyone pretends they now knew Lacy was overrated and terrible, unlike Dawson! He is the P4P number one best in the world! Calzaghe needs to fight him! He is ducking him! Dawson pwns!
