It's a bit like the Witter-Hatton situation, with one guy continually using the name of the other in order to get himself attention.

The difference is that Witter actually had a decent chance of beating Hatton.

The same goes for his Taylor fights.

I only watched it once, so maybe I'll watch it again.

Oh, and Froch wouldn't be the first to say Joe lost.

          Froch quote:

"It's an interesting fight because I think that Calzaghe is past his best as well. "

I can agree with this. I'm never sold on fighters after they get into their 30's, but Joe has had some lack-luster fights even before his fight with Jeff Lacy.
the problem is, u cant always go by who is more active. joe was active all fight long, but he never really landed any punch that was significant. alot of rounds went to hopkins by landing one or two good punches in joe's face, while joe was busy slapping at hopkins' arms and shoulders.........he won both taylor fights too, IMO.

Even Joe believes that he landed more punches on Hopkins than anyone based on compobux which is questionable.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - if anyone is up to challenging their view on Calzaghe winning convincingly than watch the exchanges in slow-motion and you may be suprised with just how little Calzaghe landed while Hopkins on the other hand landed almost all of the significant punches.
cosign. that was pretty much the fight in a nutshell.....

regardless of his motivation, it doesn't make what he said any less true. if anything it might work, b/c calzaghe knows deep down its the truth, and the truth hurts.....

but i thought maybe i was crazy or some ****......i thought i was the only one, after that fight who thought hopkins was robbed.....but more and more, especially recently, alot of ppl are echoing those same sentiments.......

now i got no problem w/ anybody saying it was a close fight. i agree. but if you take the time and pay attention to who threw and landed what, there just is no way the fight should've gone to calzaghe......but hey......

Look at the fighters current abilities and Jones easily beats Calzaghe

Hopkins hardly threw punches and STILL GOT A SPLIT DECISION.. the main reason people are picking Calzaghe against Jones is because Calzaghe is undefeated. If you take out records and and age and look at the two fighters right now at their current performance levels. Jones is the superior fighter. Jones is a whole lot faster and he hits a whole lot harder and has better skills. Forget the past look at the fighters right now and Jones easily beats Calzaghe.. possible by knockout.

Carl Froch obviously isn't entitled to his own opinion without people assuming he wants a payday?

AGREED! true boxing fans reward the sweet science of hitting and not being hit. hopkins did this and won while calzaghe failed and looked like a circus clown in the process.

if carl froch was to fight and lose miserably against calzaghe would he suddenly become the 2nd best fighter in the world like kessler?

All I see is Calzaghe fighting another legend.. who has more power and hand speed. Hopkins rung Calzaghe's bell.. He is not going to beat a legend who has more power and hand speed than the last fighter he barely beat.
