Roy Jones Vs. Daruisz M.

Would have. Could have. Should have. Didn't. The story of Roy's career, really. Fantasy fights over the internet don't make up for the real thing.
Two of Roy's belts (WBA and IBF) were stripped from Dariusz, not won in the ring, one for daring to display it alongside his WBO belt and the other for not meeting a mandatory. Dariusz was also the linear champ, having beaten Virgil Hill before Roy got to him. Dariusz was at ringside for one of Roy's fights, and several times said he was prepared to fight him in America. Guys like Roy Jones do not turn down easy paydays and methinks there's something Roy just didn't fancy about Dariusz, much like Tarver. That's not to say he would have beaten Roy, but when you're earning millions cleaning out the NYPD, why take a risk? When you consider that Roy also banned his fellow HBO commentators from mentioning Dariusz, it makes you wonder.
Roy Jones did not have the power to ban anybody from saying anything on HBO. That's ridiculous. You have no proof of that so your statement is just speculation based on fantasy. When you make statements about Roy Jones "cleaning up the NYPD" you can't be taken seriously. Reggie johnson, Lou Devalle, Eric Lucas, Clinton Woods and Virgil Hill certainly don't fit in that catagory. And DM was not willing to fight Jones in the US.Comment

Well, as the article said, DM was a huge favorite and nobody expected him to lose. It always seems like a guy is shot or old after they take their first loss. It appeared to me that he was fighting well in his previous fights, etc... enough to beat a guy who Jones absolutely annihilated with ease. Alot of that is my opinion based apon the facts we see here.Dariusz was not the same fighter when he fought Gonzalez. In his prime, he probably woulda dropped Julio a couple times and earned a decision IMO.
But, on the other hand, prime Dariusz versus prime Jones would've been a decent scrap but I can't see how the Pole would've won more than four rounds against the fleet-footed Roy. And I don't think he'd take those punches either.Comment

There was an unofficial embargo on mentioning Dariusz among Roy's co-commentators. I know it's true, but I don't have written proof so whether you believe it is up to you.Roy Jones did not have the power to ban anybody from saying anything on HBO. I was being facetious with the NYPD remark, although it's fair to say there were quite a few guys who really shouldn't have been in the ring with him.
As I said before, DM was at ringside for one of Roy's fights to call Roy out, and said several times that he was prepared to fight Roy in the States.Comment

Yea, he would have , should have and could have ducked better fighters like Hopkins or Toney too huh? If the fight would have come off this pole is the result. Live with it. DM would have no chance at beating Jones at any point in his career. Including now. As a fan, I know nothing can replace the fight that nerver happened but Dariusz fought basically nobody and the only real threats he fought were when guys came to his house. Jones, the money maker did'nt have to come to nobody. You just don't get it. It's so damn obvious. Hell, even now, Joe is fighting here, when he's the lineal champ. Does that not tell ya something? he finally sacked up enough to come over for the real challenges. DM never, ever did. Jones cleans his clock and i doubt he would do any better than Clinton Woods did against Roy. -peace.Would have. Could have. Should have. Didn't. The story of Roy's career, really.
