Roy Jones Jr. - "Who is Greater? Me or Bernard Hopkins?"

Roy hands down. Definitely a more exciting fighter that headed up the P4P list for a decade, in addition be gifted athletically. Couple that with wins over Hopkins, Toney, Griffin, Hill, Woods, then going up 25 pounds of pure muscle and beating Ruiz. I forgot the Olympic medal.
Other than fighting Roy and losing in 93, Bernard's record is quite lackluster between 88-00, and he was suppose to beat the small Trinidad and Oscar. He looked good against Tarver and Pavlik, but thats it.
Roy - better fight, more accomplishments, more exciting, crowd pleaser, talented.

His legs weren't there and he was breathing hard; he looked pale which is worrisome since he is caramel/brown.
He was in his mid-30's and went on the concentration camp diet to lose muscle weight since the only way to lose muscle, unlike fat, is to basically eat one medium size meal a day and train for hours in hot climate.
Starving your body and adding intense training destroys the equilibrium of your body...it ruins your hormones. Your body's stress level goes way up.
Did you see Tarver in his match with Hopkins?
Did you see Chris Byrd?
Chris took shots from WlAD and Vitali but all of a sudden, couldn't take **** from a LH. He even took shots from IKE.
Some people never recover and if they do, it takes a long time for the system to get back on track…and there is no guarantee it gets back on track like it was.
You have to remember that all three, Jones Jr., Tarver and Byrd were in their 30’s…an age range where the body is susceptible to going down hill.
I thought Mackie was only there for the Ruiz fight?
Jones said, according to a reporter I talked to, that Mackie knows how to put on weight but doesn't know how to take it off. Roy lost the weight for Tarver on his own. And, if he did use Mackie for the second fight, it really doesn't matter because as long as Roy's body is ruined, there is no guarantee of you getting better just because you have Mackie.

Hocan you say that when Bernard has fought everyone of significance. He fought Glen Johnson, Tito, & Kelly Pavlik when they were undefeated hungry lions. He also beat a winky Wright who haden't lost in almost decade. Bernard's opposition is much higher. Roy fought tito after a 3 year layoff/retirement. Bernard sent him into retirement. No one has ever been the same after fighting hopkins. Many people don't believe Roy even one the one fight he did win against tarver. The bottom line is Tarver knocked Roy out. Glen Johnson Ko. Bernard has never been close to that. None of the people you named besides toney that Roy fought went on to do anything. I agree Roy is Great but Nard Bloomed later than he did. & everytime He lost a belt It was a political loss. JT didn't take those titles. Neither did Calzags. Ask urself this when was the last time ROy actually did something "great". Gotta think about that. I think Roy was scared to fight nard for the last 6 or 7 years.
