Margarito Return Eyed For Jan, With or Without Mosley

is it wise for Margarito to take all this time off? we are talking about almost 7 months of no boxing...I just really hope he at least is taking care of his weight and doing lots of stamina training... i think i should fight Berto

Wrong. Margarito changed his mind about the immediate rematch after watching a replay of the fight and then decided to focus on a future shot for Cintron's belt. Margarito said the only way he would fight Paul again is if Goossen had nothing to do with the promotion. To whoever said Williams is boring, he has two straight first round KO's and other then the first Quintana fight every one of his fights are violence and excitement. Haters are jokes. Verno Phillips means more at 154 after beating Spinks anyways. Margarito is a hypocrite, calls out Oscar and Shane but ducks Williams. Clottey turned down the November date as well. More so Arum.

in fact you act as though Team Margarito and Goossen Tutor dont get along when in fact they do very well.

when the petition came forth, Dan Goossen also put in a request for an optional so he could see what big money matchups were out there. The BO came back with the ruling that while Margarito would be placed as the #1 for Williams, Williams would also be allowed an optional which ended up being Quintana in Feb.

so Williams, Goossen, and Peterson didn't want to see Margarito during this time frame. Now before you get all huffy......WILLLIAMS WAS NOT DUCKING TONY..he was looking for th biggest fight out there but his problem is that he is very good.....and not very marketable so bigger names ignored him and he took the Quintana fight in Feb of 2008.

Margarito in turn was told by Arum that we will move on without the Williams fight, took a small fight on a major PPV to stay busy, then would go after a belt in his next fight. Once Cintron started calling Margarito out it made sense to make that fight and once the money was in place it was set to have Cotto and Margarito on the same card with the hopes of having them set up their fight in July

Of course it was however, and I understand what Williams and Goossen were doing, they wanted to see if they could land bigger fights than one where they just beat the WBO Welterweight champ.

Let's face it. Kerm wasn't feeling PWill and said his hand was too bad to go into a fight YET says its healed enough to fight Tony in April? To me it was apparent he wanted nothing to do with PWill because 1) he probably wouldn't have made as much money fighting PWill as he would Margarito and 2. it was a tough fight to sell in comparison with the whole rematch angle he had with Margarito

Quintana really was the only fighter stepping up to fight PWill at that time so I dont blame them for taking the fight and its not like PWill didnt get paid well to fight in a 2000 seat ballroom (I was there)

Tony has wanted this fight since Shane said he wanted it. The moment the Mayorga fight was over Shane stopped asking for this fight or at least alluded to Margarito being too busy for him

thats funny how people keep saying mosley called out tony,,tony called him out years ago when shane was good and shane said he didn't want to fight him,,now tony is the man and everybody wants him...i hope they don't fight,shane is too old and yes he ko'd mayorga,but that fight was boring and he looked old,and lets not forget mayorga isn't a great fighter,hope tony fights someone else.
