Tarver is clutching at straws asking for a rematch.

i agree but if its in the contract he is entitled to it, which is a shame because nobody wants to see them fight again and its not needed

It looks like age and old life style has caught up with Tarver and taken a major toll on his skills over the past year but i would still give him a good chance of making a better fight out of it this time.

If Tarver can dig deeper than he ever has before keeps active 3min of each round and use his jab to keep Dawson away he can win.

He also has the good old punchers chance, you never know when he will pull out a one hitter.

So if he is ready and hungry he has a good chance but my money is still on Dawson.

I think thats why he wants the rematch, who else can he fight for any real money, he has no appeal.

LOL @ Tarver. Exercising a rematch when you were clearly not on the guys level and past your best is just pathetic. I hope it doesn't come off.

IMHO it's a different fight Tarver has a decent chance.

Like I said, Tarver always does better in rematches.

Very good observation, Glen johnson fought exactly like that against Dawson and nearly beats him.

His losses to Harding, Johnson, and Jones were close fights which is why he won the rematches. And you can make an excuse for Tarver being weight drained against Hopkins. This is not the case when he fought Dawson, Tarver was outclassed, outpunched, and outboxed. No matter what Tarver does, he will never beat Dawson at his age. Dawson's only chance of avoiding this is to call up Zsolt Erdie and ask to fight Tarver instead. If that fails than Dawson really has no choice but to fight Tarver, unless Dawson wants to pay side money.

So rather than defending against Diancou, or rematching Glenn Johnson, he signed a contract that basically amounted to a 2 fight deal with Tarver?

Not the best of choices IMO.

He has a very slim chance, more than I thought he had for the first fight. Only because it is Tarver, he loves rematches, and you never know what can happen.
I would expect Dawson to win by UD again, or if Tarver shows wear and tear, even a late stoppage.
