I gotta go with Jones. If Calzaghe wants to slap, Roy still has the faster hands (slight, but noticeable). If he wants to trade, Roy has more power. I really can't name an area where Calzaghe has the edge besides stamina and maybe reflexes (although Roy has probably been making this a priority figuring it'll be a night of countering). I see Roy turning back the clock and pulling out a close SD. I don't think anyone's getting knocked out in this one.
Roy vs Calzaghe - who you got?

Why would he want to slap? This is Joe's final fight = no need to protect his hands any longer. If Calzaghe lets his hands go, Roy is in trouble. You better pray he slaps and has hand problems.

Calzaghe got knocked down by a 40-something B-Hop, whose last KO was a body shot over 4 years ago and before that 6 years ago. So no I don't think he has the edge in the chin department. Yes Jones has been brutally kayoed twice, but you have to factor in the drastic drop in weight and the fact that Glen Johnson is an underrated puncher.Comment

Because that's basically his style. And I wouldn't be so quick to say this is his final fight. He's been tossing that around for a few fights, but the paydays keep getting bigger and bigger and he keeps winning so the incentive is there to fight.Comment

Here's a fairer comparison:
Calzaghe was knocked down by Hopkins, who scored his last knockdown less than 2 years beforehand, against the iron-chinned Antonio Tarver, who was the recognized number 1 guy in the division.
Roy Jones was knocked OUT by Glen Johnson, who scored his last KO more than 3 years beforehand, against Thomas Ulrich. Who? Yeah, exactly.
Hopkins has also knocked down (and knocked out) the likes of Felix Trinidad and Oscar de la Hoya. Who else has Johnson put down for a 10 count? No one of that caliber.
Hopkins is an ATG. Johnson is not. Hopkins was a better fighter when he fought Johnson, and is a better fighter now.Comment
