I thought I'd written Calsploogey enough today to be able to shorten it, like Slappy. I guess not.

Btw, staying on topic, can you go into detail a bit more regarding the fights breaking out in the stands? That's ****ed, man. Was it a Golota V Bowe type atmosphere, with those kind of racial undertones?
I'm not sure, I honestly got the impression. A lot of the Pavlik fans were acting like UFC trash and saying some stuff around me that was borderline racist. However, the fights were not near me at all so I couldn't tell.

It did seem like white people and some black people were arguing but around me it never came to blows. But the arguments were intense and people were getting in each others faces. That being said in our section there were four guys (white) who were HUGE B-hop fans that were basically getting in the face of all the Pavlik fans and chanting stuff over and over. So I'm not sure it was all racist.

It was nowhere near Bowe-Golata. Not even close, lol. Just made the fights point just cause they probably were not on TV and it added to the tension and atmosphere. Like i said people were PUMPED and ready for pavlik to kick ass.

      bsrizpac, you were ringside right?

I envy you, man! I would've loved to be there and to have exchanged a few lines with Merchant, Jones or Lampley. Incredible...

        But anyway...

Yeah. I saw the fight over at a friend's house, and while I would have preferred Pavlik to win, I've always liked B-Hop so it was kinda' of a torn feeling I had with two fighters I genuinely like. I was very impressed with B-Hop and the way he handled Pavlik, even almost knocking him out at certain times. So, it was great.

        My notes:

        - I haven't seen many people commentating about it. But one of the more memorable moments watching the fight was when Hopkins stared at the media after the fight, his mouth was quivering as if he was about to cry. I remember thinking: "Wow, he must be on cloud nine after what he's just pulled off!"

-After the fight, before the scorecards, my brother's friends were badmouthing Hopkins, and I jokingly said: "Don't worry, Pavlik's gonna' win
the fight. They're gonna' give him the decision..." To which one of them responded: "Hopkins would gouge his eyes out to prove the point that he was robbed blind."

        - Doesn't Kelly seem rubbery whenever he starts getting clipped by haymakers?

        - Again, I wanted Pavlik to win, but you can't help but be impressed with what Hopkins was doing...

        - As I read in another post: "Pavlik didn't show that 'bag of tricks' he talked about."

        - I've never really paid attention to Pavlik's corner advice, but in this one (I swear) during the fight I kept wondering: "Has Lowe said anything different?"
Double the jab, then the right...he must've said this at LEAST 4 or 5 times in between rounds, though I don't have the fight to re-watch it.

        - During the after-fight scuffle, I was embarrassed for Pavlik. Here he is, knowing he's lost the fight, and on top of that his team is about to get into a fight with the Hopkins' camp...I honestly thought that made them look "white trash", not Pavlik, just the team...though I'm not sure if it was the whole team. I know for a fact that the short-statured member was really pissed off, though.

        - I caught one of the lines that Hopkins was saying to Pavlik (not precise): "You're a terrific champion, and keep ruling that middleweight division like I used to, a'ight?" A-ight?

        - YET ANOTHER undefeated fighter loses his 0.

To give you a curious metaphor: boxing is a living room, the top undefeated fighters are in the VIP section where dope is being made...and Floyd left right before the FBI (Quintana, Margarito and Hopkins) moved in for the drug bust. Cotto got severely wounded and was hospitalized by Lieutenant Margarito, Pavlik was too stoned to struggle against Officer Hopkins, and Williams was arrested by Rookie Quintana who was subsequently blown up in his house as soon as Williams made parole.
Thats the only advice he EVER gives Pavlik.......that mummified offense was bound to be exploited by someone with lateral movement..... NEW TRAINER ANYONE. Pavlik has the heart and determination of a fighter but his overall skills need to be fine tuned. Uppercuts, hooks, body attacks are all aspects that seem to be foreign to Pavliks offense. Can anyone say New Trainer

I'd also like to add that I WANTED Pavlik to win because it was good for boxing in the US and it's popularity. I totally agree. Loew is okay but Pavlik needs someone who can diversify his style before it's too late.

As soon as it became apparent he was getting completely schooled his fans deserted him and didn't even make one single attempt to rally him.
              **** off. He was there.

Thanks for sharing that info with us, threadstarter. I like the fact that Merchant and the gang stick around a little bit to talk to the fans. Good stuff. You're a lucky guy for meeting them. I'd be especially hyped to get in even a little chat with Roy.

They seem like good people. I wish I had gotten a picture with Roy. He was dressed up like a ****e Lee pimp. It was hilarious. Great to meet him.

I talked to him before and after, not during the fight. the hat was hilarious and very cool.
