he shoulda focused on unifying with the other middles instead of getting exposed by an old man.
Will you call Pacquiao loseing to Delahoya exposed?

Pavlik has a family and secured there future with this money fight. BuT, imo, he can still dominate Middleweight. Going up in weight he lost a lot of speed and looked lathargic. Hopkins is a natural Light Heavyweight with tons of experiance. Its not like Hopkins didn't already lose, he lost to Calzaghe. So what does he do next? Chooses a smaller man in Pavlik. That is what he did. If Pacquaio gets credit for moving up in weight then so should Pavlik.

pav was exposed by hop just like tito was by oscar, its that simple.anybody with enough boxing ability and size to nullify his, will beat him.the good thing is i can't think of anyone like that at middle at the moment.I'm a fan of pav, i didn't jump of the band wagon cause he lost, I'm just calling it like it is.and as far as pac getting exposed, the guy has speed, at 144, my hunch is he comes in at that weight he won't look anywhere near as sluggish slow and tired as pav looked.pac is losing that fight though.

Great article. I also found this whilst watching the programming and was livid by their comments. One mention as a view then maybe, but they kept on exaggerating and enforcing it like it was spoiling a future star of theirs and all his fault. Absolutely ridiculous biased stuff that. The fight wasn't 2 weight divisions higher it was 170, which is barely 2 lbs above SMW, and just 4 lbs higher then where Pavliks fought before.

The weight excuse is being seriously over played, he got beat by the better guy. Had he not have it'd would've been the greatest new star sealing their reputation and what not. Really lost respect for em saying all this and good to see the other factors so well presented.

In all fairness to Jim and Emanuel, Jim says "does this mean that Kelly has been exposed?" and then Emanuel began to say that he always thought that Kelly would loose to a more skilled, slick boxer.......then Merchant goes off and both Jim and Emanuel jump ship. Its as if they don't want to disagree with Merchant for some reason...

That's why I think Merchant should retire.
I like Larry, but I know what you mean. Personally I think it was better with Foreman or Roy Jones there, because they were more likely to disagree and speak their minds. Manny is too polite for my tastes.

How can you compared what Oscar did to Trinidad to what Hopkins did to Pavlik is beyond me. Pavlik wasn't in his weight class where he was koing people he moved up in weight.

What you can compare Hopkins v. Pavlik is Hopkins v. Trinidad, lol. See a similar patter here?

But one thing i will say is that Trinidad was way more comfortable at 160 then Pavlik was at 175.

So Pavlik looked sluggish and slow so he got exposed.

But Pacquiao will keep his speed you say and won't be exposed but lose.

              LMAO.

Lets see Miranda had size, he got ko'd.
Sturm has boxing ability and has some size to him, surly he'll beat him.
Abrahem is the same at Sturm so surly he'll beat him.

                    Yup, you're correct.

I dont agree with the article completely. Though I must admit that HBO probably showed overaggression in making this fight between the veteran and the learner, Pavlik did not have to take the fight. Is HBO Pavlik's promoter? No. Pavlik wants money when he fights, like alot of other fighters, he does not want to fade into the background and fade fighters that would not rise to the level of interest for HBO to approve of.

However, it is Pavlik's choice. He could have choosen to fight off of HBO. My God, why does every fight have to be on HBO? I mean it is nice, but not if it screws up a fighters career (I dont think in this case it has, pavlik will be back).

Point is, Kelly needs to take his time, B-Hop had 20 title defenses, where all of those on HBO? And the point is, he stayed at middle weight, perfected his craft, and now can choose to move up and take on quality boxers. Kelly Pavlik, the time where you can dominate in different classes and adapt your style of fighting in order to dominate your oppenents will come only through patience and longevity, stay focused and don't be greedy.

I applaud Lampley and Merchant, they were telling the truth. I dont suspect either that they make every decision or any final ones, they are commentators after all. There are suits behind them that make the big boy decisions like the desire to pursue this bout.
