hbo has been trying to usher Bernard and Roy off HBO forever. This fight just destroyed there dreams of that. It legitimized for sure whatever hopkins wants to do for sure. Hopkins is in the driver seat when it comes to HBO and there is nothing they can do about it.

They definately play there favorites, but this fight needed to be made to put alot of things about the current state of the game in perspective. The oldtimers in this game were so good at one time, that even out of there primes they are better than the young bloods.

Hop will beat pavlick at any weight.

I'm a fan of both Hopkins and Pavlik, and wasn't surprised that BHop won, only that he did it in such dominating fashion. Lampley is pretty biased and quick to jump on the other guy's bandwagon when his preferred fighter is losing.I'd say it's pretty hypocritical of HBO to say that Pavlik shouldn't have taken the fight when they forced him into it, by not wanting to televise the mandatory against Rubio. If Hopkins would have put on this kind of performance against Calzaghe, he wouldn't have been in the running as a possible opponent. All in all, I think the storyline of this fight played out great. BHop further established himself as one of the best fighters ever, Pavlik learned that he still has a lot to improve, the press was forced to eat their words and never underestimate a living legend, and hopefully HBO and Top Rank learned that just because a young fighter is undefeated just means that they haven't fought anyone who presents a bad style matchup yet.

Another fighter moving up in weight in fight Hopkins. Maybe Chad Dawson would be a good fight saying he's a natural 175 fighter.

Funny thing you forget to mention is that Lamply or Merchant said, "Pavlik didnt' think he'd get credit for beating a smaller fighter in Williams." lol, yet Hopkins is going to get credit for beating a small fighter in Pavlik.

Hopkins will shut me up if he beats Dawson. But i don't think Hopkins will ever fought him. He never expected to lose to Calzaghe.

I've been saying it 4 a while, they need to get Larry the boot, he talks craps out of every fighter except his #1 idol, pacquiao. He needs to either die or get the boot out of HBO...

Don't be so sure. If you belive that then how about a Hopkins v. Abrahm fight at 160. Hopkins used to kill himself to for years to make 160 im sure he still can.

Another i'd like to see is Taylor v. Hopkins at 175, Taylor would still beat the old man.

But the fight that should happen is Dawson v. Hopkins time to pick on someone from his weight class. Calzaghe already beat him.

they pretty much said it was a bad decision.well, what the hell was it then? would he had gotten out of it if he did ko hopkins? that he ko'd an old man?
if he won, that he beat an old man?
he shoulda focused on unifying with the other middles instead of getting exposed by an old man.

Why should they be ashamed? I agreed from the start it was a bad move on Pavliks part, little to win everything to lose. Hell just look at the outcome.

When Calzaghe beat Hopkins, Hopkins was old. What makes anyone think it would be different for Pavlik? I would have not given Pavlik credit myself.

Bad choice for Pavlik, expecially sense he had to go up in weight, which even the extra 4 lbs in Taylor - Pavlik II hurt him.

Whoever wrote that article is a moron, and I dont even like Pavlik.
