HBO Crew Should Be Ashamed For Their Comments

Lampley never annoyed me until Cotto vs Margarito. I never understood all the criticism until that fight happened. They just ignored all the work Marg was puttin in during that fight.

But at the same time I think we need to remeber that these HBO guys aren't really 'boxing guys' as they are guys that just try to sound smart for whatever olympic or boxing event they may be calling on that night. They have knowledge for sports, but they are far from accurate.

Compared to Marg Cotto and Taylor Wright and Hopkins Calzaghe.. they were pretty fair here.

This was a great read. I agree. HBO are influencing this system of celebrity boxer matches instead of fighters fighting mandatories.

HBO been doing this with all the black fighters(andre berto,bernard hopkins,floyd mayweather early roy jones paul williams etc) the only people that really give black fighters respect is lennox lewis max kellerman and emauel stewart im not saying HBO boxing racist but they are biased towards non-black fighters

the fact of the matter is this: a cagey veteran beat a young one dimensional fighter.. hopkins picks his opponents well. calzaghe has been his only bad choice these days.. he picked a middleweight to fight him at light heavy. take nothing away from hopkins, to do what he is doing at his age is incredible. after jones defeats calzaghe, i see jones defeating hopkins.

absolutely fantastic article.....there are times, i wished i had the mute button on, when lampley and merchant do a fight.....lampley is one of the most biased announcers there is around when doing fights.....oftentimes he he gives credit to "his" fighter when punching exchanges take place.......as a previous post says, Manny and Oscar are going for the money too......Oscar has lost a tremendous amount of respect from me as well as from many boxing fans....lets see if either one of these annoucers defiantly criticize oscar and manny on fight night...I DOUBT IT!!!

STOP THAT. THAT IS TOTAL BULL****.

Pavlik is a HUGE middleweight who fought Taylor at 166. Not only that, Pavlik was fighting at 169 as many as 4 or 5 years ago.

Pavlik is TALLER than Hop and has had as many fights above MW as Hop has,

Actually Pavlik picked on hopkins not the other way round, arum wanted to use hopkins name on pavliks resume but i think it backfired big-time.

Pavlik would have lost even at 160.

In all fairness to Jim and Emanuel, Jim says "does this mean that Kelly has been exposed?" and then Emanuel began to say that he always thought that Kelly would loose to a more skilled, slick boxer.......then Merchant goes off and both Jim and Emanuel jump ship. Its as if they don't want to disagree with Merchant for some reason...

That's why I think Merchant should retire.

Why is everyone surprise that Hopkins won this fight? Kelly always had bad foot work. He needs to be set to punch, and thats what Hopkins exposed. Now everybody is shocked at what happened. That's funny to me.... LOL
