There is not a single guy besides Kessler on the whole list of Calzaghe's title defenses who would have a decent shot at beating Kelly Pavlik.

As a matter of fact I think it's safe to say Pavlik would knock out every last one of them besides maybe Eubank and Kessler.

    David Starie? lol
    Richie Woodhall? lol
    Tocker Pudwill? lol
    Evans Ashira? lol
    Rick Thornberry? who?
Charles Brewer? only 8 losses at that point. lol
    Brank Sobot? who?
Juan Carlos Jimenez? again only 8 losses at that point. lol.

Sakio Bika and Peter Manfredo? Has any other undefeated champion made two consecutive title defenses against guys who fight on "The Contender"?

God that it a pathetic resume if I ever saw one.

When Calzaghe fought a decent fighter, Robin Reid, he got a Split decision.

Pavlik would have just decapitated Reid and left it at that.

Im saying they're both past their best. I think if Roy was shot, he wouldnt have been as dominating in his last 3 fights. His opponents were not elite but certainly no bums and Roy dominated them and still showed a top class level of ability even though hes clearly not the fighter he was.
Who were those three fights against? Just wondering.

To be fair you have sorted through and picked out some of his weakest opponents. I agree with what you are generally saying though. WIth the exception of Kessler I would favour Pavlik to beat everyone on Joe's resume.

Yes anyone can do that. You could look at Pavlik's record and say he went 12 rounds with a guy that had 66 losses. Its quite a lame and ignorant tactic.

Its all hypothetical. Im sure people favoured Khan to beat Prescott, Tyson to beat Douglas, Lewis to beat McCall/Rahman, Morales to beat Raheem.

Thats what makes Calzaghe's longevity so impressive. He's been able to stay on top through 21 defences - some against top fighters, some against **** fighters - but hes always come through even with injuries, off nights etc.

When Pavlik shows even a shred of actually achieving such longevity in the sport then we can talk.

Yeah but the debate isn't between the careers of Pavlik and Calzaghe. I was just weighing up how I think Pavlik would have faired against Joe's resume.
