Jermain Taylor: "I Want To Make an Impact at 168"

HAHAHA! I say Pavlik outboxes his opponents, and you name ONE opponent who you feel he HASN'T outboxed, then ask who he has outboxed? So are you saying he didn't outbox ANY of the others?Who has Pavlik outboxed? I thought Taylor outboxed him especially in the 2nd fight. Pavlik's will and activity got him through. That coupled with Taylor's mental weaknesses.
Lacy showed no signs of mental weakness until he faced Calzaghe.
Like I said, I think Pavlik is better but not by that much. He isnt as infinitely more skilled as Lacy as you make out.
I agree with you to an extent on Taylor outboxing him, with the caveat of "when Taylor actually boxed." Pavlik was more consistent and more active, so while Taylor's bursts were more impressive and showed more talent, I'd still argue that Pavlik boxed with him about evenly overall.
What about all of the other qualifications I listed that make Pavlik better than Lacy? You ignoring all those?Comment

I suppose I could've called you "asshat" or "clownshoes" which would've been genius.
Roy and Joe are both past their best.
Tell us about Floyd ducking Margarito. You're awfully quiet on that front. And dont say its off topic cos we're talking Jones, Calzaghe, Pavlik and pretty much every other **** in boxing on a Jermain Taylor thread.Comment

Eubank, Mitchell, Reid, Kessler, Hopkins, Woodhall would all absolutely have a chance against Pavlik, I don't think you can make out that Pavlik would definitely beat any of them, even though he might or theoretically should.
As of right now, Pavlik has only ever beaten one really good opponent, and his 'really goodness' is certainly questionable until he shows us some more. Therefore if you pick Pavlik to waltz through Calzaghe's resume you are doing so on the basis of Pavlik passing one stiff test. That's fine, but be aware that that is what you are doing.Comment

Nice attempt at excuses YET again. So basically once again you are a ridiculous caricature of a real boxing fan. Most people on this thread not biased towards any nationality are starting to notice.I suppose I could've called you "asshat" or "clownshoes" which would've been genius.

Why are Roy and Joe even remotely the same in being "both past their best"? Just a ridiculous statement.Comment

Um......you were commenting on how Taylor did just as well against Hopkins as Calzaghe and that Hopkins was younger.what in the hell does Taylor being younger than Calzaghe have to do with how big of a challenge Pavlik is compared to Jones...?
and Calzaghes prime was inbetween the Lacy and Kessler fights. thats when he looked his best, and Ive seen plenty of his fights. I think hes going to go downhill soon, because hes getting to the age where all fighters start to go downhill no matter who you are, but as of now hes not incredibly far from his prime. If he wants to get some big fights in, he needs to do it now.
So I said Taylor was over a decade younger than Calzaghe, so surely using your age logic, he should've done a lot better against Hopkins.
I didnt know you were relating it to Pavlik. But in any case, it shows Taylor is slightly overrated and I think was an accident waiting to happen judged on his Spinks and Ouma performances.
Thats your opinion. Calzaghe was considered a puncher in his younger days, he's had a history of hand troubles. I think Calzaghe's prime was much earlier, he was just never given the top calibre fights he deserved.Comment

No I didnt.
I said Calzaghe had stayed consistent at the top level for 21 defences. Then i named some of the best names on his record. He has some **** names too.
I then said Pavlik has, in comparison, made 1 defence against Gary Lockett. I didnt say anything about Lockett's ability or worthiness which lets face it, isnt very high.Comment

Poor guy. Just such a conspiracy of EVERYONE ducking him and a massive conspiracy to keep him from getting those top fights. Everyone should feel bad for him.Comment
