Jimmy Bivins fought Joe Louis, Ezzard Charles, Charley Burley, Joey Maxim, Jersey Joe Walcott, Archie Moore, Lloyd Marshall, Harold Johnson, Bob Baker and others...

You'll find out that a lot of the fighters from that era had similar records, they truly fought everyone there was to fight.

Many champions did avoid fighting contenders such as Bivins though, despite his great record and hall of fame status, Bivins was never given a real title shot.

You beat me to it. Good post. Glad I scrolled down first.

One name you forgot, Sam Langford. He not only fought and beat some of the greatest fighters in history, some he fought multiple times. Names like Jack Blackburn, Tiger Flowers, Stanley Ketchel, Jack Johnson, Harry Wills, Jack O'Brien, Joe Jeanette, Joe Walcott, Sam McVey, Jim Flynn, Kid Norfolk, Wille Meehan and the great Joe Gans among others. He fought these greats all the way from lightweight, to heavyweight.

Langford might just be the number 1. Amazing record.

He fought lightweight champion Joe Gans, welterweight champion Joe Walcott, middleweight champion Stanley Ketchel (and future MW champion Tiger Flowers), former light heavyweight champion Jack O'Brien and future heavyweight champion Jack Johnson (spent the rest of his career looking for another shot at Jack Johnson's HW title).

World champions from lightweight all the way up to the heavyweight division.

Not to mention avoided LHW/HW's McVey, Jeannette, Wills and Norfolk as you mentioned.

Muhammad Ali, hands down. I'm surprised nobody mentioned him yet. Also Sugar Ray Robinson, Eder Jofre, Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran, Sam Langford. I'll think of more later when I'm not in a hurry.

Duran, Whitaker, Hopkins, Toney, DLH, Chavez, Ali , SRR, SRL, Foreman, Pep, Armstrong, Hagler, etc. If you go by the biggest names than it would be DLH or Whitaker.

That is the greatest resume hands down. Can you imagine if he never avoided Jeffries too?.....but still, that is hard to top.
