If he fought Margarito he would be looking for decision not KO like Cotto, after Cotto knew he couldn't KO Tony he gave up. Mayweather pot shoting all night and a smile on his face

You cant get much more accurate than Cotto was on that nite. He was torpedoing Margarito's face for much of the nite and Tony kept coming. Sorry Floyd fans, I do agree with the original OP. I think Floyd knows this too, thats why the Margarito fight was never made. People act as though The punch stat numbers will be Mayweather 900 thrown 900 connected and Margarito 1500 thrown and 0 connected. Mayweather would taste more leather in a Margarito fight than in any other he's ever been in. He will be pressured all nite. He has a tendency to get jammed up on the ropes by smaller men, like Hatton. The Mayweather that fought Hatton would get killed by Margarito.

Cotto tried everything he could to keep Tony off him and it failed. Cotto was elusive and hit Tony with everything he could. Eventually that PRESSURE got to him. The size difference was a huge factor.

Floyd has never put out as much, offensively, as Cotto did that night. I don't see Floyd doing as well as Miguel in a fight with Margarito. Tony would do what Castillo couldn't. He'd stop Floyd in devastating fashion just past the midway point!
***arito is a **** fighter with no skill. Drop dead hater.

Did you see when Cotto was on the ropes, how he dodged all of Margarito punches

HAHAHAHAHA, Floyd barely beat Castillo. And Floyds suppose to have an easy time with margarito? Margarito pressures harder and is way more accurate then castillo is*in my opinion*. Oh, please theres a reason why this fight was never made, and guess what theres no reason why this fight can't be made right now since Margarito holds a belt... Floyds retired? Margarito/Cotto scared Floyrd into retirement. ****er nearly lost to Castillo and Oscar. And some people actually think Castillo and Oscar beat floyd.

I saw Margarito have his biggest success when Cotto was on the ropes. Tony certainly had mare difficulty in the center of the ring.

Does anyone actually think Magarito would even land half the punches on Mayweather that he did on Cotto.

The difference between in a Mayweather vs Magarito, is that Floyd will not stand and trade at any point during the fight, and he won't get hit nearly as much.

Floyd UD's Margarito easily, while making Magarito literally look amateurish.

Magarito does not cut off the ring very well, and he's not particularly fast, either. He would chase Floyd around all night, while being tagged with scoring punches, and not landing nearly enough effective punches himself to earn a UD. Floyd almost pitches a Shutout UD over Magarito 119-109 across the board.

I'm a Margs fan 10 times more than a Mayweather fan but I think Mayweather takes this fight in decision(split) if they ever fought.

Cotto is more offensive oriented and doesn't have the defense Floyd brings to the ring so you can't compare Cotto's defense being the same as Floyds.

As for the guy who says Margs doesn't has any skill.
If Margs didn't have any skill then why was he a champion for years before losing to PW? Why is he the best Rated Welter right now? Is it because of his color?

I def. agree with you. Im as big a fan of Margs as anyone else, but honestly I think Floyd gots this easily. I think its been proven that pressure and high output punching doesnt really work against floyd as he has the best defense in boxing combined with some of the most accurate counterpunching skill. I think Floyd would easily have beaten Margs and Cotto, I just don't get why he gave it all up. I guess he wanted to "retire from the game and not have the game retire him"
