It's kinda a silly post really because the man hold the record for most mw defense, held the undisputed title for several years, beat all comers until he was already in his 40's, and even in his 40's he still beat top guys like Tarver and Winky. The obvious answer is yes!

He may have stunk up the ring in the past Seven years, but yes, I’d consider him ATG, though to consider him Top 50 is a stretch, he’s definitely a Top 100m kinda guy….

[QUOTE=Tunney;4080702]No, I think an old ex-convict who hits & holds and headbutts his way to boring wins doesn't belong there.

Most of his biggist wins were over smaller men, natural welterweights. He started as a light heavyweight.

He was convicted for stealing old ladies' purses. That's low.

Oh please, get off your ****ing high horse. These are boxers, not elected officials. Hopkins made his pro debute at 175. One fight. He didnt fight at 175 again until he fought Tarver many years later. So don't try to sneak that lie in there. Glen Johnson, Antonio Tarver, William Joppy and Keith Holmes all became or were world champions who were not "natrual welterweights." and how the hell can someone be a" natrual" welterweight if they can no longer make the weight? Anybody who thinks Trinidad was still a welterweight when he fought Hopkins is ignorant and has a lot to learn about boxing.

Against Tito he was the underdog and Tito power had carried over to MW after KO Joppy. He beat Tito in that fight by out boxing him but using his size. He went on to beat Winky and stopping his unbeaten run and Tarver at his second age. He gave both Calzaghe and Taylor there hardest fight at that time. Now he is going on to fight the prime middleweight champion who is 26, 17 years his junior.

If Calzaghe is an ATG with a Resume with Kessler and Eubank and Kostya is an ATG with Judah and Mitchell. Hopkins should be an ATG

          Winky > Kessler and Judah
          Tarver >> Eubank
          Tito >> Mitchell and Lacy
The Fat Winky that fought Hopkins 15lbs above his natural weight is not better than Kessler.

          Tarver > Eubank? Funny ****.

Your argument for Tito being a legit opponent for Hopkins was that he KOed a middleweight. Lacy was KOing Super Middleweights and was actually the same size/bigger than Calzaghe. Tito is the better boxer, but then Juan Manuel Marquez is a great boxer but he wouldnt do well against Hopkins or Calzaghe.

And what does this have to do with Calzaghe anyway? You seem to relate all your threads to him.

To answer your post, Hopkins is an ATG Middleweight. He'd rank significantly lower on the ATG fighters in all divisions.

That's the only reason I selected the NO option. He's lost to guys his size and in particular guy's his size with athleticism.

He's an All-Time-Good.......but I think of prime Roy Jones as All-Time-Great.
And in B-Hop's prime I just think he was very, very good. But not quite great.

                Just my opinion.

he is an inspiration to all people overcoming adversity and he is an ATG with a great resume and some excellent wins

and he was quite exciting in his prime, hes just old now and cant throw many punches per round
