It's why I laugh at the "he beat smaller guys" argument. Hopkins is just an incredible physical speciman who doesn't fall out of shape - he probably COULD make 154 if he really wanted then. I mean, 156? That's incredible.

Hopkins is abosolutely an ATG! his current performances may suck now but nothing can take back what he did years back...just like Oscar...his actions of the present still wont hurt him since he established himself since way back!

I am not even a Hopkins fan but he defended his title a record 20 times and e oldest man ever to hold the Middleweight Championship. Ring champion in two weight classes. I know Hopkins get beat on for beating smaller fighters but the one fight he should get no credit is against Oscar. Against Tito he was the underdog and Tito power had carried over to MW after KO Joppy. He beat Tito in that fight by out boxing him but using his size. He went on to beat Winky and stopping his unbeaten run and Tarver at his second age. He gave both Calzaghe and Taylor there hardest fight at that time. Now he is going on to fight the prime middleweight champion who is 26, 17 years his junior.

If Calzaghe is an ATG with a Resume with Kessler and Eubank and Kostya is an ATG with Judah and Mitchell. Hopkins should be an ATG

Hopkins probably isn't as good as some of the current ATG MWs like Hagler, but his lengthy run of defences and extraordinary longevity mean he will always be up on the list when people talk about history's best middleweights. Its just a matter of how high.
