Are you sure? I'm watching the Gatti fight and they say that Mayweather is wearing 14 oz "pillows," and I think he wore the same for the Baldomir fight. Did he switch back after these fights?

He was wearing Winning gloves I believe, which looks much bigger than the other brands out there because of the padding, Winning gloves has the most padding to protect the hands, Mayweather liked to wear them for that purpose.

He wore 10 ounces against DLH and Hatton, he used Reyes against DLH and Grant against Hatton.

And I can't recall ever seeing two fighters wearing gloves of different size.

        It is.

I have seen some rounds where Pep was hardly even touched, but Pep supposedly winning a round without throwing a punch was probably a myth, unless Sugar messed up the name of the opponent.
I read an interview with the opponent and he said Pep gave him a beating in a great fight filled with action.

I would recommend people to watch some of Pep's fights to make up their mind about his defensive skills. There aren't many out there but there are some.
He used a lot of tricks that aren't used today, Whitaker was maybe the last boxer who did similar things in the ring.

The third Sandy Saddler fight was a very good (filmed) performance by Pep, aside from being knocked down once and having his shoulder dislocated by Saddler of course.
No shame in that, considering Saddler was probably the hardest puncher and the dirtiest fighter in the history of the FW weight class.

Pep wasn't at his best either, not after the plane crash.

and dementia doesn't only happen to boxers. there are millions of elderly ppl suffering from that disease that have never boxed before.
Dementia Pugilistica isnt regualar dementia that old folks get who never boxed.

yep. for winning most of the foam is distributed at the front of the glove to minimize stress on the hands whereas gloves like everlast and reyes distribute more to the side leaving less padding at the front for impact

also the reyes gloves of now are not the same "horse hair" ones they have a reputation of being. They arent that different from a grant or an everlast anymore and the theory that they are punchers glove isnt as valid as it once was

and Mayweather also used Grant for the Baldo fight as they were willing to match his outfit

well pep was in a bad plane crash where he was placed in a full body cast for a couple of months and was told that he could never box again but he still boxed for a couple of fights after he recovered but was never the same. He probably suffered most of the damage in that period of his boxing career if he does have Dementia Pugilistica.

Pep had more than a hundred fights after the plane crash. But you're right, most of his notable fights were before that happened. Still, he managed some good wins over sndy saddler, Lefty LaChance, Paddy DeMarco and some other not so well known contenders and even won the featherweight title again. The man was amazing. Who knows how he would have been thought about today had that crash never occurred. How much better his already stellar record may have been.
