The shoulder roll is nothing new at all. Fighters back in the day used the shoulder roll effectively.

I met Pep at Foxwoods casino in 2002 at the Pazienza-Lucas fight and he sat with me and my friends for 10 or 15 minutes and shot the **** with us. He was funny and seemed pretty sharp to me at the time. That has always been a special moment to me. Talking with one of the p4p greatest fighters of all time. Pretty cool.

It's not the shoulder roll that would get Floyd in trouble if he fought back in the day, it is his knack on turning his head and ducking, looking for the ref to stop the action and prevent other fighter from hitting him on the back of the head. Now that would likely not work, and Floyd would get his fair share of blows on the back of the head, with much smaller gloves too.

I'm a mayweather fan but I will tell you that pep is the greatest defensive fighter all-time. he literally won a round without throwing a single punch. now that is good defense. I doubt anyone including Floyd could ever pull that off.

and dementia doesn't only happen to boxers. there are millions of elderly ppl suffering from that disease that have never boxed before.

Pep most likely didn't pull it off either.

A member of the IBRO did the research on the Graves fight and the round in which Pep supposedly won a round without throwing, was described by the newspaper writer as an action-packed round with great 2 way action.

Of all the boxing myths, that's the one I'm the most tired of hearing. Sounds like some bull**** that Bert Sugar made up.

The shoulder roll works without big gloves, c'mon, some of you guys are just making stuff up now. James Toney wears small gloves and he is a master of the shoulder roll. Mayweather wears 14 oz gloves because he broke his hands a lot in his early career, not because it helps his defense. The guy that takes advantage of big gloves is Winky Wright, but he trades off a lot of power for it.

Mayweather wears 10 ounce gloves, it's just that he uses gloves with lots of padding thus making the gloves look bigger, I don't think Toney has fought with anything smaller than 10 ounce gloves.
