I've seen interviews of Pep when he was 60 or 70 years old, he looked and sounded fine to me.

A fighter can also get dementia pugilitica by getting hit in the gym repeatedly, similar to what happened to Terry Norris, he never took a lot of punishment in the ring but went through some wars in the gym.

Ive seen Norris take devastating shots, just because they were not total beatdowns doesnt mean single shots causing concussions couldnt do the trick either.

He suffered from dementia as an older man, it could happen to anyone.

And if it was caused by boxing, it was probably because he had 6x more fights than Mayweather had. Pep retired at the age of 44, after a 26 year professional boxing career.

He had over 200 fights I think, even if he didn't get hit MUCH in one fight he fought over 200, those shots add up not to mention he was stopped by Saddler who is a HUGE featherweight puncher.
