where u gettin ur info TS? pep went through the majority of his elder years without any signs at all of severe damage.

compare that to some guys with a fraction the amount of his fights who are merely in their 40's it's quite amazing.

Mayweather and Pernell Whitaker have the best defense. I'd have Pep slightly better then B-Hop. Prime B-Hop has VERY good defense on the inside, almost like a Prime Duran. B-Hop gets overlooked alot when talking about GREAT defensive fighters

Yea I was gonna say that probably had something to do with it even if he didnt get hit much in single fights, the accumulation could be it.

Imagine Floyd trying to defend himself with gloves that small, he wouldn't be half the defensive genius he is today.

How come he wouldnt when Floyd slips and stays out of range to utilize most of his defense not to mention blocking with his arms. You hardly see Floyd try and block a shot with his gloves.

That shoulder roll bollox wouldn't work with the gloves they used back in the day, he still uses one of his gloves to do it.

His uses the right glove just to protect his right jaw, the right hand is mostly used to counter with when he is using it. Trust me it would work.

How is this even a question? Irrespective of the massive number of fights Pep had over Floyd and career longevity, when was the last time Floyd fought someone who had a real shot at beating him. Oh, that's right he wouldn't take those fights. Pep fought just about everyone. So defensive mastery means a bit more historically when you look at the level of competition. So I'd give Pep title of best defensive boxer followed by Whitaker.
