Mayweather got more skillz and a way better defensive fighter. RJJ has wins over B-Hop and James Toney, but I wish there would have been a 2nd fight against B-Hop cuz he improved alot after that and so did RJJ. James Toney always had weight problems...that wasn't the best James Toney I've seen but good win for RJJ.
who is greater to you...RJJ or Floyd?

If we are talking strictly ATGs Roy has Floyd covered with Toney and BHop. Oscar is the only ATG on Floyd's resume. Taking situational factors into account I understand that Hopkins wasn't quite the finished article when Roy beat him and that Toney may have been weight-drained, but I still think those two dominant wins are superior to Floyd's SD over a semi-shot Oscar.
Its the second tier where Roy has Floyd comprehensively covered in my mind. As you mentioned Gatti is in Floyd's second tier of opponents. I love Arturo, but Roy beat plenty of guys at his level and above. Roy's second tier resume is littered with guys like Montell Griffin, Antonio Tarver, John Ruiz, Virgil Hill, Reggie Johnson, Clinton Woods, Eric Harding, Otis Grant. IMO these guys were of a higher level than Floyd's second tier opponents.
Also I need to add after typing that that I am not trying to diminish Floyd's accomplishments, he is one of my favourite fighters. I just don't think his resume is as good as Roy's, thats all.Comment

While I'm impressed with Floyd's resume and his defensive prowess, I personally find RJJ to be greater to me.
Perhaps its because I saw RJ fight more, downright embarassing people. Now Floyd did this as well, but there was something in the natural talent of Jones I found truly captivating. Not to mention his rise from middle all the way to heavy and back down in between. Roy was one of the first people that really got me into boxing...
It's like Tessitore says in FN3:
it's not roy's fault about lack of thrill from opponents
he was just too damn good for his own good.
I've got much fonder memories.Comment

Both have great resumes but Roy's is better
Both have great boxing skills but Floyd is the more complete boxer.
Both have great athletic abilities but Roy is more athletic.
So 2-1 Roy wins I think he is greater but both are my 2 favorite boxers and both have had great careers.Comment

Personally I have McCallum as an ATG but it is down to personal opinion I guess.
I don't want to sound like I'm harrasing you but could you please outline your argument as to why you think Floyd's resume is superior? What fighters has he beaten that leads you to believe he has a better resume than Jones?Comment
