tarver really won that first fight with jones, everyone knows it. roy jones sat in a division which was worse than the heavyweight division of today. he made himself look like a god against fighters that never went anywhere before or after their fights with jones. im not saying roy didnt have skills, he did, but he didnt ****ing fight the people he could have fought. now that hes old and the god damn rappers have broke him hes all wanting title shots and **** cause he whipped up on trinidad? cmon...

thats not to say floyd has had a great career, he dodged alot of fighters just like jones did. fact is though that de la hoya, hatton, and judah are better than anyone roy jones had ever faced, outside of bernard hopkins.

floyd and jones both have skills but they could have done alot more and made efforts to fight more "real" fights. you dont see pacman, pavlik, taylor, or hopkins taking any easy fights these days do you? floyd and RJJ were both #1 p4p champs at one time, and that generally means you should be trying to fight p4p fighters if possible.

in my mind floyd and jones will always be "dodgers"
    Your post has significant flaws.

Toney, Ruiz and Virgil Hill are all meaningless fights? How so? Ruiz was a legitimate HW title holder and the far bigger man. For a former MW to move up and beat a HW champ takes a tonne of ability, certainly not a meaningless win. Toney - best SMW at the time and top 5 p4per - how is this a meaningless win? So what if Toney was not at his 100% best during the fight, hundreds of fighters have had things working against them in fights, it doesn't mean the win is worth nothing. Virgil Hill was one of the top LHWs of the era - a great win and the dominant fashion in which Roy achieved it adds to it.

"Everyone knows Tarver won the first fight" - run a poll. See what responses you get. THe fight was one of the easiest to score in history and Roy won it.

"Oscar, Hatton and Judah are better than anyone Roy ever faced outside of Hopkins" - So we rate Ricky and Zab over James Toney now do we? FFS.

Ruiz wasn't worth it. People will be amaze that RJJ moved up to H.W to beat Ruiz... but when they check out Ruiz, they'll see it wasn't worth. Going up to H.W to beat Ruiz was the reason why RJJ crashed.

ok so i take back the comment about toney, i didnt know he was p4p at that time, i was wrong and i admit it. but ruiz has always ******... who cares if he was the bigger man? if roy was honestly trying to make a statement by doing a fight at heavyweight **** he could have picked someone besides RUIZ! what about joe mesi or something? that would have been alot better... mesi was fighting at that time right? also, belts dont always make fights important, especially in a division as ugly as jones was in. he could have moved around a bit and made some fights happen, same for floyd. if the fight with virgil hill was a truly meaningful win, then there is no reason why anyone should rag on any of the klitschko's fights.

roy could make mistakes and still look great / win the fight. floid doesn't make mistakes or take risks. roy has more talent overall, floid's technique is better. floid is the smarter fighter, roy is just naturally gifted

I have to go with Floyd. They were equally gifted, Roy has a bit better resume but losses in there too. Floyd made all the right steps unless his retirement, he seems to be unbeatable, and for now we'll never know.
