Yes, if it's within the weight limit for the title, certainly. But typically, if you have a catchweight within a title limit, it'll be because one guy is either coming up from or down from, another weight class meeting a guy who's either coming from the other direction, or is naturally somewhere close to the catchweight agreed upon. I can't think of an example right now, but I'm sure it's happened many times.

But if, say, Calzaghe and Hopkins met at 166, then the sanctioning body most likely wouldn't have allowed the title to go to the winner, unless it was over the super middle belt, rather than the light heavy, in which case there would really be no need of a catchweight.
