Joe Calzaghe Is Not A Light Heavyweight Champion

Joe beat Hop at a catchweight, lets not forget this and not 175. Gary Shaw said something very important during the Dawson press conference that made alot of sense and there is a reason why we have weight divisions. If Floyd had fought Gatti at 135 and won, many would have said well Floyd beat him at 135 and not 140 and many would still wonder what would happen at 140, like many still wonder what would happen at 140 between Floyd and Hatton. Make no mistake Joe Calzaghe is only a 175 lb champ on paper and nothing more.

No, it was for the linear light heavyweight title, they didn't fight at 170.

You really don't understand how this sport works, do you?

It was for Hopkins' Light-Heavyweight title.

The light heavyweight division is anything between 168 and 175. The rules are that you can't weigh over 175, not that you have to come in at that weight. Is there anything else you don't understand about boxing? How's about a brief run down of the queensbury rules, or a lesson in mandatory weight checks in the weeks and months leading up to the fight?

You do realise, 175 is the maximum they can weigh, they don't have to weigh 175 on the dot for it to be a Light-Heavyweight fight....don't you?

Yes I do, the fight was at a catchweight still.

You're a tool. The fight was for B-Hop's light heavyweight title. Joe won, so he's the light heavyweight champion.
