Oscar hasnt made 147 since 2001, Roach knows that trying to make that weight will be a huge challenge for DLH (HENCE, THATS WHY DLH HAS STARTED TRAINING). Focusing more on trying to make weight then the fight plan at hand can be a disadvantage to DLH. (Just a thought).

He says that if De La Hoya comes in overweight the fight will be off because he won't let Pacquiao get in the ring. The fight takes place on December 6 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Pacquiao, the WBC lightweight champion, will move up by two weight divisions to the agreed upon fight weight of 147. De La Hoya has not made 147 since 2001. There is a clause in the fight contract that would cost De La Hoya a lot of money for not being able to make weight for the fight, $3 million dollars for every pound above 147, or a fraction above the weight. But one this is for certain, there is no way Oscar makes 147 and if he does by a miracle, he will be way to depleted in energy if the fight goes past 7.
Oscar will go for broke very early and try to knock out the much more energetic Pacquiao quickly. If he fails, Oscar is in trouble.

the fight will go on even if olden boy weighs 170lbs. freddie is joking when he said the fight is off if olden boy weighs above 147. he can't afford to lose million dollars for his fee.
who's on the corner of olden boy, by the way? is it ugly old floyd?
i miss ugly old floyd's line that pacquiao don't know how to box. this will be a war.

I don't ever work my imagination overtime, but I keep it sharpened since I use in what I do. I would think that the scenario I roughed out is campletely within the bounds of what boxing crappers get up to. it wouldn't even make a half-decent novel.
When the $750,000 per lb overweight was mooted, you may recall that I imediately wrote in and suggested that it should be at least DOUBLE-or MORE. Then the $3 million dollar pound (avoir-du-pois) made it's appearance and I immediately visualised Oscar handing it over to Manny with his right hand, and Manny taking it with his left and handing it back with his right hand to Oscar's other hand, in a circular routine. Behind closed doors of course. Nothing to it. He handed it over didn't he??
All it takes is keeping to the script.

It was the luckiest day of his life when he began to train Manny, because Manny has made him a substantial millionaire, and, not only that, Manny has, by his successes, brought The Roach into the rarified atmosphere of the "super=trainers", although it seems to me, that his fighters are always being beaten, some of them pretty badly. I'm not certain about this because I haven't been keeping count, and am prepared to be politely corrected, but it seems to me that he's been more often "unlucky" with his fighters than the other way.
I truly believe that it was Manny who made HIM, not the other way around.
