He is playing to win , Id do the same , Oscar is big and they want him to boil down as much as they can force him to , 147 is not going to be easy for Oscar to make .

For a guy who was once 130 lbs, it only takes physical inactivity in co-ordination with a properly balanced diet. Over time the muscles will shrink, and with gym work the fat will melt. It just takes time and dedicated effort. And turn away from the filet mignon with all the trimmings.....Don't forget he was 150 a few months ago, and went the full 12 rds, was able to keep up with the speedy Forbes, and won every round.I feel he'll come in under 147, and boast about it.

Your letter seems to me to contain a little bit too much of The Roach worship. What makes Freddie suddenly such a lifetime dedicated boxing enthusiast-[there are thousands, of equal enthusiasm and dedication]...........he was an average fighter at best, himself. This was all he knew of course, but the REAL answer is ....MONEY. He had to make a living and he wasn't qualified for anything else.

It was the luckiest day of his life when he began to train Manny, because Manny has made him a substantial millionaire, and, not only that, Manny has, by his successes, brought The Roach into the rarified atmosphere of the "super=trainers", although it seems to me, that his fighters are always being beaten, some of them pretty badly. I'm not certain about this because I haven't been keeping count, and am prepared to be politely corrected, but it seems to me that he's been more often "unlucky" with his fighters than the other way.

I truly believe that it was Manny who made HIM, not the other way around.

Oscar hasnt made 147 since 2001, Roach knows that trying to make that weight will be a huge challenge for DLH (HENCE, THATS WHY DLH HAS STARTED TRAINING). Focusing more on trying to make weight then the fight plan at hand can be a disadvantage to DLH. (Just a thought).

I don't think DLH would have much trouble figuring out how to fight pacquiao. Pacquiao is a one dimesnional fighter who comes straight forward and throws his left hand all night long. De la Hoya has fought stronger, faster, and craftier fighters than pacquiao. IMO De la Hoya will struggle a little to make the weight, but won't be drained like many think he will. The fact that he has been active and in fighting shape will help a lot.
