I don't think it is a race thing.

The effect i most attribute it to is ppl get a little annoyed when they watch fighters make it look so easy. A lot of experts and fans resent that I think, and noone made it look easier than a prime RJ.

I know, its a bit depressing at the moment I think. We as a sport are tearing ourseles apart. An example of this is the Oscar hate that is going around at the moment. Not just on this board but in the wider boxing community. When a guy that has done as much for the sport as Oscar has is getting hated on you know something is not quite right.

Bernstein just appreciates Technical fighters the same way Merchant appreciates guys that get in their and fight more than technical fighter who Box etc

I somewhat agree with that statement

When Jones' athleticism and physical skills started to fade he got brutally KO'd twice.

But they were 1 punch KO's. Its not like they beat him up.
He took bigger punches from bigger hitters throughout his career.

All of a sudden he cant take a punch. Neither punch was devastating. I think those KO's are odd. Maybe its true that they were due to him coming of steroids.


I think he was a great fighter because he dominated 90% of his opponents. He was often bored when he fought. And he could have won the 3rd Tarver fight if he actually tried to.

Its a fair comment by Bernstein its only when you look at it as a knock on Jones it goes pear shaped , Jones is a natural fighter hands down relying on reflexes and speed much like Leonard Ali Robinson and recently Mayweather , these guys are not conventional all squared up taught fighters they are naturally gifted athletes with power and speed to burn when their speed and reflex goes so does the largest part of their game there mongoose like ability to not get caught , I think Jones was a great fighter and a great athlete .
