How Do You Beat Calzaghe?

Counter right hands straight down the pipe.
The right hand is the punch you want to land against a southpaw. Against Joe, it's easier to land because he squares himself up too much. That's why even though I think Joe is a special fighter, I have him losing to the likes of Toney, prime Hopkins, and prime Roy.Comment

Yep. And what Hopkins did was counter on the inside. And caught Calzaghe coming IN. On the outside he simply made Calzaghe miss. In fact, the few times Hopkins was caught was when Calzaghe was able to get extension on his shots. It's simple.Comment

Assuming your talking about Joe Calzaghe of today:
He has a solid chin. Ko's are unlikely but could happen at this stage.
You need to be quick with the counter punching followed with aggression. You must not ALWAYS wait but take the attack to him (throw wild punches to make it look as if you are landing to impress the judges).
He is confident. You must make him respect you. Fast, hard hard body shots and Flash Kd's are a start. Once he respects the speed and power he will lower his work rate, take his confidence and he would spend more time thinking than going into the windmill mode. Especially if you are just as fast IF not faster.
To "beat" Joe Calzaghe, you must use a solid work rate and over all land the clear and harder shots. (I think HOP drew out the blue prints for us) Thanks grandpa hop, you're the best!!!!!
Of course this is boxing and a KO is always out there but its hard to say with his chin. (I only say this because I think kessler has a solid punch and he landed a few hard shots that joe took for a snack and spit back in his face). But its boxing and anything can happen, especially when you're getting older, slower and are looking for the end of your career with a lot of dollar signs in his eyes.
A young Joe Calzaghe:
I would sick a young Roy Jones Jr on him and that is all that would need to be said.Comment
