I think there are active boxers now that can beat Joe.
Pavlik, Dawson, Abraham, Wright, Taylor, and Jones. Possibly Tarver.

Hopkins did well against him, he just wasn't active enough. A counterpuncher w/ power can beat him. And somebody who could turn the tables and outwork him.

Hopkins had the right idea in that he tried to time Calzaghe lunging with his punches. One thing about Calzaghe is that he doesn't short step, he long steps. When an opponent long steps, they're fatter with everything they do because of the longer stride.

Also you need to keep him out of his rhythm with a consistent jab. Once he gets on his toes and starts bouncing around and getting in and out, he's hard to beat. Make him think and find new holes to get inside and throw because the longer he is at medium range trying to get in, the better chance you have at catching him.

Has anyone ever worked his body?

The right hand is the punch you want to land against a southpaw. Against Joe, it's easier to land because he squares himself up too much. That's why even though I think Joe is a special fighter, I have him losing to the likes of Toney, prime Hopkins, and prime Roy.

Glad to see someone has been in the ring before.Exactly correct.

Some of the "strategies" I'm reading on here are sad.

a super middleweight version of Juan Manuel Marquez.

So that would be every single active elite boxer at or around his weight class who calzaghe has not already fought and beat? Hmm. I bet if he hadn't fought Hopins, Lacy and Kessler they'd be on too.

Of those, Dawson has the best chance, because he's young, fast, skilled and quick, but if he can struggle with Johnson, Calzaghe would give him kittens, he'd apply similar pressure only much faster and more skilfully. If tarver showed up to fight he might make it a good one too, his cagey style is not Calzaghe's favourite and he's much bigger than Joe, but in all likelihood would get outworked.

The rest of the names on there get beaten easily by Joe C.
