Once again, Calzaghe showed heart in the fight. I respect that. But he's shown heart before so I'm not shocked at that.

What I am shocked at is anyone thinking that it was

A. A great win.

B. A good or great performance

C. Decisive

Finally a post of substance. It was a great win as it was his first time at LHW, and he beat the LHW #1. Say what you want about age ok, but Hopkins was the LHW #1, and most agreed as such. So that's the main thing.

A good performance yes, as it he did what was necessary to get by Hopkins, something very few have managed to do. A great performance, no. He didn't look great, hit hard, or perform well as even he admits and so do most.

Decisive, dunno what your getting at really, again most agree it was a UD win so that's that. I don't know why you exaggerate what supposedly some Joe fans say on the wins, I hardly see any saying the things you make out, certainly not many. So it makes one question your motives when they've not really been said much or at all, only by you.

first off all, bruh, im definitely NOT the type of poster that gets on here and posts "****" just 4 the sake of posting..................second of all, ive seen ALL of the fights to which i'm referencing, with the exception of the spinks fight- which i heard from commentators AS WELL as family and friends who actually pay attention to boxing, that the decision could have and probably should have, went to spinks............i clearly state that i didnt see that fight myself, but when i hear from so many ppl that spinks should've gotten the decision, and i have yet to hear from ANYONE, except it seems from YOU, that taylor "deserved" the fight.....so i think i'll pretty much stick to what i said......

I am hardly the only one to give that fight to Taylor. But based on your scoring of the Hopkins fights below, clearly you hang out with and are influenced by people who have no problem with awarding a fighter the round if he only lands one or two punches as long as they were, in your opinion, "more effective."

Spinks ran from Taylor the entire night. He made it an ugly fight by refusing to engage. You can't expect to win fights that way, especially not title fights, and as a fan I question any other fan that would support that kind of fighter.

third of all, if you "watch" the hopkins fights w/ the volume off, and don't pay attention to harold lederman's scorecards, there is no way in hell taylor swept the whole first half of those fights....it was close, but in at least half of those "taylor" rounds, hopkins landed the harder shots. the problem is fans like you are easily fooled, by crowd noise and play-by-play comentators, which usually confuse activity w/ actual effectiveness. yea, hopkins wasn't throwing as many shots as taylor, but in at least half of those rounds, if you actually pay attention, hopkins was LANDING the more effective shots....certainly enough to win him a round or two early on, in fights he clearly dominated down the stretch...............

Secondly, in the first fight, Hopkins fought an aggressive young fighter and just stood around making faces for most of the first EIGHT rounds waiting for Taylor to gas himself. He waited too long and couldn't pull it out. You can't expect one or two solid punches to win you a round when the other guy is coming after you, landing many more shots even if they aren't square.

the point is, i can use an "i heard" argument, when everybody, except you, says the same thing.

Nice hyperbole, but I'm FAR from the only one who shares my view on the Spinks fight. And while I go "kick rocks", you should go watch the fight and form your own opinion before making an argument based on hearsay.

Gotta laugh at those who really think Bernard Hopkins did nothing the first few rounds against Jermain Taylor. Do you guys watch boxing? Or do you think Taylor wore down all by himself and Hopkins suddenly remembered it was a fight? ****, how can you even give Taylor the first round?? Seriously...

I think Calzaghe and Pavlik are in no win situations as Roy Jones Jr and Bernard Hopkins are regarded as past there best , Most people expect Calzaghe and Pavlik to win and will not get much credit in doing so BUT if they lose .....?

If Calzaghe loses his rep is damaged

If Pavlik loses his career is in serious trouble ( I think Pavlik is taking a big risk fighting Hopkins as he has everything to lose with nothing to gain )

I dont think Pavlik will lose but anything is possible
