As for 160-175 opponets possible I think Taylor and Pavlik make the most sense from both the business and respect sides of the coin. I don't think guys like Dawson, Tarver or even Johnson would be interested in fighting him because they still have unfinished business amongst themselves.
Dawson needs to quite acting like a ***** and rematch Johnson, Tarver needs to settle the fued with Johnson (1-1), and Tarver wants Dawson himself. 175 is a ****ing mess aside from Hopkins, Calzaghe and Jones.

People like Pascal, Froch and Bute are yet to beat anyone great, but there's an outside chance that one of them becomes a big name within the next year or so. I think Bute has a very entertaining style, and being based in Canada means that finding success in America is realistic possibility for him.
After that we may see him stepping to 175.
I'm not saying that he beats all those guys, but if is he good enough to do so then I think he'd get a lot of exposure.
I don't really agree with the intended point of the thread though. Some of my favourite fighters weren't that great, but so what? There's no rule saying that your favourite fighters have to be P4P quality.
That's why I'm glad he's showing some balls going to 175 for Bernard, after that I think a drop to 168 would be the perfect plan for a Kessler fight.
The European opponets really can't do anything for Mikkel right now career wise. Since they have literally no global appeal, and are quite untested themselves.
Is Taylor still going to fight Lacy? I remember Lacy faked retirement because of money drama and came back a week later, so the fight is still on?

If he stays at Middleweight and fights the Lockett's of the world he will never be respected.

It's a shame that Kessler-Miranda didn't happen, it would've increased his exposure in a big way, especially if he won in the same style that Abraham did.

Well Kessler has fought most of the contender at 168 and the division doesnt really have alot of big names at the moment, Thats why Kessler can benefit from an american exposure either Pavlik or taylor should do the trick for him.
I doubt Dawson would be interested since his busy chasing tarver, Tarver is busy chasing Jones (again).

Taylor, Pavlik, Kessler and Abraham are pretty much it for 160-168lbs. (Assuming Kelly doesn't stay at 175lbs, if he does it would be even worse.)
Hopefully in the time it takes them to fight each other, a few new names will emerge to keep **** fresh. Because after they're done with each other it's 175lbs or bust.

Beating Mundine, Beyer, Andrade etc is part of the reason he is highly regarded, they and others were the best boxers his division had to offer, all of them were good wins over good opponents, and he amassed two world titles and notched up several defences beating them. Fighting outside of Denmark is a non-issue, he's Danish. How many Americans box outside of the US?
His match with Calzaghe was a classic, one of the best fights of recent years. His skills also are extraordinary he is technically an almost perfect orthodox boxer and is a very fast, powerful SMW. I can't think of many boxers who are 'better than him in every single way', particularly around his weight class. Pavlik works harder but is slower, Taylor has more variety but executes it less well.
He isn't my favourite fighter, but he's one of them. I think he's got the potential to be one of the very best boxers in the world.

The problem for Kessler is that no big name yank is willing to fight him. That's why he's trapped fighting on the euro-circuit.

Pavlik will likely (IMO) only have one more meaningful fight at 160 and that's Abraham. The ruler at 168 should fight Pavlik then (IF Pavlik gets past AA that is).

He could fight someone on Friday Night Fights and get American exposure, but he'd have to be willing to take a dent in the wallet to do so. I know it's not fair, but that's how the sport is. You have to be willing to make the sacrifice in order to get the rewards.
No ****?! Tarver wants Roy for the 4th time? He's already known as the guy who made his bones off a past-prime Jones, what's he want now? The record for doing it twice?
Clegg pointed out that a move up for Pavlik is likely when the Abraham fight is over so it's going to be interesting to watch the positioning battle of the top SMW's (Kessler, Bute, Froch and Taylor) for the right to stand first in line for the Pavlik bonanza.
