True. I think what happens is a lot of people remember how unreal Jones skills used to be. The speed, power, combinations and domination. He's far from that fighter today. But is he shot? No. If Jones was a fighter we had never seen or heard about and you watched him today, he would look like a pretty good fighter with very fast hands. Most people know about the things that Jones used to do. That creates a perception that he is "shot" This will be a very interesting fight. Early on I favor Calzaghe by a decision with Jones fading late. But I have an open mind to a different result. I'm curious about how people will view Jones legacy if he wins this fight.
Roy is NOT shot

I usually agree with you Bat, but I don't think Joe's able to hit hard enough to KO Jones - because of hand injuries, he can't hit like he used to (i.e., in the fights with Mitchell and Eubank). And I don't believe he can win on the scorecards against a popular American fighter in New York.
And I agree with Ree****yalus that Roy is not a shot fighter - faded a bit, yes, but not shot.Comment

You guys need to seriously harness back some of the vocabulary being used around here... for instance... "SHOT"
Roy Jones Jr. although NOTHING like what he used to be.. (then again who is) is not a SHOT fighter...
Arturo Gatti, is a SHOT fighter... he got handidly beat down by Alfonso Gomez.
Jose Luis Castillo is a SHOT fighter.... he just got beat up on Wednesday Night Fights.
Evander Holyfield is a SHOT fight, no explanation necessary.
He had a bad 2 year situation going on in 2004-05... but since then he has proven he ISNT shot...
Has he proven he can beat an elite fighter? NO, we are yet to see that...
Has he proven he can still win a fight though? YES.
Has he proven he can still see openings and pull the trigger? YES.
Can he still block and avoid punches? YES.
Can he still counter punch? YES.
These are all things a truly SHOT fighter, are incapable of.
Are Anthony Hanshaw and THIS Tito Trinidad Elite fighters? NO, they are not elite fighters...
but can Anthony hanshaw and Tito Trinidad still beat a truly SHOT fighter... yes, they can beat a truly SHOT fighter, just like the guy who beat Castillo on Wednesday night Fights (forget his name).
If Roy was truly SHOT he would of been beaten up by Hanshaw, and he wouldnt of knocked him down.. ESPECIALLY in the 11th round of the fight...
If Roy was TRULY a SHOT fighter, he wouldnt of beaten EVEN THIS Tito Trinidad, and he WOULDNT of knocked Tito down TWICE in the fight, in the 7th and 10th rounds...
Now Ill repeat myself, Hanshaw and Trinidad are not elite fighters.... But a SHOT fighter would still lose to them.
A Shot fighter would not beat them, not knock them down... a SHOT fighter would of been beaten up by the both of them.
I wont sit here and tell you how Roy still has it, and how hes going to beat Joes ass... Do I think Roy can beat Joe? Yes I do... do I think Joe can beat Roy? Yes I do... It really comes down to how much Roy truly has left... but this much I know, a SHOT fighter he is not.Comment

if tito was actually active, then yeah you'd have a point, but he hasn't.beating hanshaw and tito and ajamu aint gonna help him with a calzaghe fight, and on top of that roy has said he doesn't like fighting southpaws.
so your definition of shot is not being able to beat anybody.
that is simply a facade.you know it i know it and so does anybody with half a brain.Comment

I'm of course ready to bet if anyone's interested!! I got Joe!Comment

saying hes incapable of competing at the highest levels is factually an opinion, because we havent seen it yet.Comment

I think Joes hands are equally as fragile... Joe literally doesnt turn his hand over when he punches because he favors his hands... ever hit the heavy bag with an injured hand? you find yourself severely favoring it, and not really turning over on the punch with that hand... same thing here.Comment
