    Some points I used previously........

I agree, Roy Jones jr is not shot just old(er).

He is still quick with his counter punches and the body shots will be a threat. Jones is fast and he will frustrate Joe which will result in joe moving to his "panic" mode. This is were Joe thinks he's losing and will get carless and do his "WINDMILL" flurry. He will attempt to throw this "windmill" and get countered to the body or upper cuts to the face by ROy Jones Jr who has showed everyone he can still deliver. Joe will think twice about his "windmill" flurry work rate punches that he looks for to score points to win the rounds.

Jones will not be gun shy. Watch Clips of the Tarver III fight, the Hanshaw fight (especially the last 2 rounds), or even clips of the Trinidad fight, He is NOT shot. Jones and his glass chin have nothing to fear with Calzaghe and his busted glass hands who wont commit to his punches anymore.

When was the last time Mr. Joe Calzaghe KO'ed someone? When was the last time he Knocked down someone? When was the last time he seriously hurt someone?

Overall Joe has a sloppy style and Roy will clean it up with precise body shots, uppercuts and clean counter punches that he can STILL deliver. Roy will take advantage of Joe's sloppiness and it will result in a slower work rate for joe which is the only advantage I give him other than his excellent endurance. You take the work rate away from him and well you get the idea.

Like you said I can see either man winning. Only thing Roy will have to over come is Joe's endurance, his only advantage IMO. You cant scare Roy if he cant KO anyone especially when you have glass hands. Joe is not expecting what is coming to the ring November 8th.

    Jones is Calzaghe's Tarver.........

It would be, yes, and there is a chance of it, but Roy has to take a huge risk himself. I'll go into details if you want.

The concept of Roy being shot is a strange one. He was so fast that you have to ask how old he would have to be just to get back down to normal human levels. However, I do think he is finished as far as as elite level goes, its no great mystery, he just has the look of an old fighter now. My gut is telling me that he's going to look really bad against Calzaghe. Everyone in America drastically underrates Calzaghe and I think Roy is no exception. Joe's style is unique and I think most of his opponents have only realised how tough it is to handle once they get in the ring with him.

If Roy can come in at 85% of his prime both physically and mentally, he can stop Joe. I'm sure he can still do it physically, I'm not sure whether mentally he can come in right and hold it.

Roy's only chance, and I mean his only chance, is if he jumps Zaggs early, before he gets warmed up and into a rythem. He has to let 'em go like he hasn't done for 5 or 6 years. If he does this, and gets more than a little lucky, he might catch Zaggs with that magic punch and hurt him enough to get a stoppage. Roy, for all his current drawbacks, still has fast, accurate hands, with decent power, plenty to get the job done. The only time Calzaghe has ever been down is early, so that's when he's got to do it. If the fight goes 4 rounds, it'll be too late and the die will have been cast. Roy can't throw at Calzaghe's pace for 12 rounds, or even 8, in my opinion, and Calzaghe will start hitting his sweet spot after the 4th, and will probably win by 7 maybe 8 rounds if he doesn't stop Joe before that.

Now then, of course this strategy comes with a huge drawback....if Roy does try for the KO early, he'll be too spent to keep a defense late, and will probably (almost certainly, in my opinion) end up being TKO'd himself, but then there are always drawbacks to every plan.

If I were Roy, I'd ****ing go for it. Like I said on another thread, better to go out in a blaze of glory with a reasonable chance of becoming a legend a second time around than to go out with a whimper in a lopsided decision against an opponent who's younger and has a bigger gas tank.

I don't think he's shot. He's obviously still got some left in the tank. How much remains to be seen though. I don't think he'll beat Joe, but I don't think he's shot. He's past his prime.

He just got spoiled by his success. He is still a good boxer. He has that hungry back again.

I think hee will give joe a good fight before falling to joes powerful punches.
