Doubtless that Roy's chin has always been questionable it was just that he was able to use his phenomenal speed and reflexes to not get hit. Whether he avoided certain fighters or not, it is impossible to say. Regardless of whether or not he did he still has a very good resume and has had a damn decent career IMO.
In his Prime did Roy Jones avoid Big Puches?

Yes he avoided the big key name punchers like Michael Benn ect, however i was really impressed when he went to Merqui Sosa and brought the fight to him, stopping him in two rounds and even becoming the first guy to ever knock him down. Even though it was a quick stoppage, Sosa was a guy that even till this day James Toney ranks as the hardest puncher that hes ever faced.Comment

It is easy for those who never boxed to say Roy had no jaw, or that he got by on skills alone. That is garbage. Maybe he didnt have the jaw pound per pound of a George Chuvalo, or Tex Cobb, but to win and defend titles at 160-168-175,,,then beat a Heavyweight..and not lose until he had to lose a drastic amount of weight ina short period of time...He had to have a jaw.
Now true his reflexes enabled him to avoid taking a lot of shots directly at full impact. WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL, ISN'T THAT THE POINT. People reflexes, and avoiding shots, or minimizing the impacts by properly positioning yourself, and your jaw (head not straight up, jaw tucked), rolling with the punches, all these are learned, trained, developed techniques that all wish they had, only Floyd and Whitacker in recent memory have been better during their prime years. Ask Ali the benefit of having the heart to take all those shots directly.
Look at Leoanrd, who fought the best fighters one could imagine, and never went down, hearns, duran, Benitez, Hager. He was hit buy big shots repeatedly, had a detached retinea, but it took slowing of reflexed brought on by inactivity and ******* abuse to result in knockdows. Oh yes this guy that never went down to hagler and hearns, then afte 6 additional years of inactivity after already being out 6 of 9 years,,,,was then stopped by light highting Camacho. All because inactivity led to slowing of reflexes along with age, and this resulted in him not taking shots in the right manner as he did before, so that big shots did not impact him as much, as it did when a light hiitting fighter landed shots.Comment

Even though you do joke about it, I dont think Roys resume is what it couldve been. The fact that hes probably the most talented fighter ive seen in my lifetime makes it all the more disappointing.Comment

Was he scared of Johnny Nelson and Carl Thompson? I think we know the answer to that one.Comment

sorry i just dont see nigel benn being very competitive with a prime jones.
but then again i dont see many who could. i never was a big fan of his and liked him about as much as i like mayweather now but since his loses i have been kinda wanting him to pull off at least one more big fight. the problem is i like joe calzage too lol.Comment
