Further proof that you can beat someone hard enough into becoming a fan.

Freddy Roach and the best insect spray

I don't like or trust Freddy Roach, going back to all his underhanded slyness in the contracts trouble with Top Rank and Golden Boy. Roach was deeply involved in that as he had Manny's ear. Also, he got Manny convinced to give him 10%, when, it's well known that the very top fighters, who make huge purses, nearly always pay their trainers anything from 3-6%.

Again, as NOW, I'm always wary, when Roach says he "
honestly believes"...... "There ain't no sech thing", especially for a trainer who has a finger in the pie. He has no business giving out interviews which go against those issued by the PRINCIPALS of the Group, that is, Manny's manager and business lawyer.

His most dishonest statement to date is that he will refuse to be paid if Manny loses. Can ANYONE see Manny or Arum allowing THAT to happen.

I can see Roach, to save face, being like a petulant child, refusing the money, and "reluctantly" standing there allowing it to be stuffed into his pocket, where he pretends to take it out to hand back, but somehow never gets that far. Something like being "beaten to the draw" in paying a restaurant bill. You know...... "long pockets and short arms".

No...I don't like Freddy Roach....AND...by the way, he has had VERY BAD LUCK with most of his fighters, except for Manny P. who has really made his reputation for him. Manny has put him into that class where he is talked about as a "great" trainer, when going by his other results, he'd only be "very mediocre.........at best.

I don't think it would be easy pickings... but I do think that Manny would have an excellent shot of defeating him. Hatton in my opinion didn't look good at all in his last fight and Manny has never looked better in my honest opinion.

                Diaz

Oh yes, and about David Diaz........It's to be expected that David, nice guy thast he is, would boost Manny up against even Superman, since he beat David badly. What could he be expected to believe, since he still thinks he himself is a pretty good fighter. But....consider.....What do we think that Ricky Hatton would have done to David Diaz....??? He's have put him in hospital, that's what. David, let's face it, going by skill and standard level alone, is one of the poorest lightweight champions in recent memory.

So we shouldn't pay too much attention to this statement.

Manny and Hatton would be a very good fight, with the outcome uncertain. Manny has never fought anyone like Hatton, and he definitely doesn't have the facility a long term champion needs, of being able to change his game easily in mid fight. When things aren't going his way, he becomes very tentative.

The reason Manny looked so good, was because he was fighting Diaz, an almost stationary, non-head moving, target, somewhat like a swinging heavy bag, asking to be hit. ....YOU could look good showing off your punches against a bag, which was not hitting back. You could look like a World champ.

This reminds me of the famous Jackie Mason routine of long ago................"yes, you know, I was a fighter.....I remember I'd come into the ring, and fight.......I'd throw a left...a right.... a left-right........

THEN.......my opponent would come into the ring............. ......And I'd give him my ONE-FIVE.....ONE-FIVE.............. Two three and four, he'd give ME....."

In the previous few fights Manny fought 2 VERY faded top notch fighters in Barrera and Morales. They were both well finished. Yet, Barrera went 12 rounds and Morales, weight and spirit drained, just collapsed from legs which were wavering and unsteady from the very first second of the fight, without even putting up any kind of resistance.

Jorge Solis was a featherweight not only with NO title, but with not ONE SINGLE top name on his record. And Manny took 8 rounds to dispose of him.

He didn't look good in the 2nd Marquez fight, and barely won.

Manny hasn't looked legitimately good since his SECOND Morales fight, and in MY opinion, crested then, levelled off, and is now on the downgrade, regardless of his Diaz fight, in which it would have been very hard NOT to show well.

Although in modern times, we have examples of the heavier weight fighters peaking in their early to mid 30's, when 20-40 years ago they'd have been finishing up their careers, the smaller fighters have ALWAYS peaked around 24-28 max. There are several who went on longer who were really top stars, but it was generallly accepted that the small fighters are past their best by the time they hit 30, with the boxing-life expectancy being extended perhaps, say 2 years because of modern methods, food, training, etc.. The good ones may be lucky in that they've come along at a time when the opposition isn't overwhelming, and there are always a few good ones who go on at top level past 30. This is the exception rather than the rule.

But they are BOXERS..NOT FIGHTERS. Manny is a Fighter.

                  Just my opinion.

When Manny feels he's losing he usually steps up his game, becomes extremely Aggressive and ends up knocking his opponent down.

Against Marquez I think he should have used the upper cut a bit more to counter when Marquez would try ripping combos off. a La Zab judah

The only thing is, Marquez is a much much better boxer than Hatton, and Pacquiao will probably be busting Hatton up from round one.

Well in my opinion you are utterly wrong.

There is one small problem... Hatton has not looked good at all since um... 2005. He also has a significant weigh problems that make him balloon up to the 180 range. I have 7 inches on Hatton and I have never even flirted with that weight.
