He is not young anymore and knows very well that Pavlik is capable of upsetting him at this stage when he knows he could have beaten pav a couple years ago.

I will not go out and accuse him of being chicken though like so many do. He gets enough **** swung his way mainly due to his ******ed nut huggers in here.
you shouldn't say that, now all the Calzaghe fans will have an excuse if he loses to Pavlik. It's really to bad he decided to sit in Wales his entire Career.

With all the bums Joke fought throughout his career, I thought he was already retired...

They can think what they want. Excuses would have flown from them anyway. A couple of years ago Joe would have been a hard one to topple for Pavlik. Right now I just don't see him making it 12 rounds with Kelly. Pavlik is getting better and Joe is getting slower. Joe waited too long to face him.

i still do think that joe is the best in ring tactician today - alot of people are ****ing on about hopkins in the buildup to the pavlik fight but joe impressed me that night because he out thought and out foxed the best boxing brain that is active today. he took away hopkins main punch after the fourth rnd, and hopkins from there on in was just trying to stop the tide (by faking the low blows and slowing the fight etc).

anyway imo even todays joe or a 37 yr old joe has the ring smarts, the timing and distance know how to outfox pavlik and take the SD. however the calzaghe that faced sheika and mario veit would toy with pavlik, and i really mean that. he would literally toy with the guy and make him look amateur.

i think the fighter in joe wants to take him on (pavlik) but he knows that he is not getting any younger - his speed is virtually gone that was apparent in the hopkins fight. joes been getting cut recently, winning split desicions recently - thats not joe calzaghes style, i mean hes still winning but not the way that he once was - he doesn't capable of them dazzling flurries and dominat victories, his body is telling him its time and joe knows it.

but as someone said before the 20 million paydays are hard to ignore and if joe looks good in the RJJ fight and his hands dont give him any more trouble then i expect him to give pavlik/dawson a mark in the loss column.

By doing this he will never receive the greatness he wants, he needs at least one world class win on his resume, which he lacks. His best win is obviously a 43 year old Hopkins, **** Kessler, Hopkins almost kicked Joe's ass, and has a resume leagues better than Kessler, but alas at 43 he couldn't hold his own anymore. If he had fought him at least in his thirties it would have been legit.

All you clowns saying Calzaghe isn't getting his due, I made a deal with the Calzaghe fans that if Joe doesn't duck Pavlik and beats him I'll will say I'm a moron and that Calzaghe is great. I refuse to look at Calzaghe as great when his entire record is padded with bums and his best win is a 43 year old man whome he almost lost to.
Yes, you made that deal with me. Whether you want to look on Joe as a great or not is up to you, no-ones forcing you, but I promise you he ain't ducking Pavlik, if he does retire it will be because he thinks he is too old, which at 37 is perfectly understandable.

I agree with most of this, but I'm not as certain what Joe does or doesn't have left, its hard to say looking at a fight with Hopkins. Jones will tell us more.

Well you cannot "duck" an opponent if you retire. I still believe he is doing himself and his fans an injustice by not taking on Pavlik.

I just feel he did many things wrong early in his career, then really started to correct them, only to sell himself short once again.

The Pavlik fight is the one all fans wanted. The Pavlik fans could not see Joe beating their man and the Joe fans could not see Pavlik beating Joe.
